Have any of you Michigan-folk ever heard of the Dublin General Store up in Dublin, Michigan? We go deer hunting there every year and they have some mighty fine beef jerky. The also sell elk, venison, turkey, ostrich, buffalo, and chicken jerky. Good stuff.

I like Jerky but I am always disapointed over the amount you really get for your money.

Don't see the fun in getting up before first light, sitting out in the cold, snow and rain all day not moving? Or in the rare occasions where you actually kill some smelly animal and have to evicerate it and drag it possibly miles back?  I guess I can see why it's not for everyone.

Anyways, Jerky is great, but it really is a rip off for your money. You're better off buying cheap London Broil's and making them into Jerky.

Its not the early, I love to fish. When I fish I get up at about 4am usually. Its the sitting still and not moving for hours at a time that gets me. With fishing you can talk with someone, and if the fish are not biting, just pack up and boat somewhere else.

That's why you gotta go small-game hunting.....IME, ducks are the most fun and rewarding experience I've had. But we don't really get pheasants or geese around here. So that sucks.

But there's lots of dove, quail, cottontail and ducks. I'm not a huge hunter nowadays so that's enough to keep me occupied as far as small game goes. My dad just recently got a Depradation(?) permit from the game warden to hunt at night with spotlights for some wild hogs that are destroying some grapes, so I'll probably go along because that is just too good to pass up.

If your issue is that you can't talk and socialize, it's a lot better than big-game hunting.

I personally like fishing, but I haven't gone since I started keeping fish a year ago or so. No real reason, but I probably would be kinda sad.

From what I've learned about these freshwater fish, I think taking a trip for some dorado or payara would be some crazy and fun stuff.

I got a whole case of sample-size Jack Link's jerkey a while back, all different kinds.  Kept me for almost a year, and people were complaining about my breath the whole time.

I didn't care - I had free jerky.

^Out of what?

And I love London Broils! Good meat for cheap, I eat those instead of ribeye or T-bone anyday.
