I'm looking into getting an Ion. I'd wish to get some facts on the Ion.   Also would it be better than my Custom Pro?

Welcome to the Forum,

You have posed your qestion in the "Upgrades and Customizing" Forum. This is the wrong Forum for these types of questions. I suggest you read the Forum Rules and FAQ's, if you would have read these you would realize that this "Which Gun is Best" Forum. You would get better answers for this particular question there.

The Ion is a great gun for the money. You get a good electro, with eyes, which is a big plus. The small, light, fast (enough), have changable bodies, aight trigger, etc. The only thing you need is HPA and a good hopper.

And the Ion is way better than the Custom Pro.

The ion seems to do well on the field, but I've been more than satisfied staying with my 98. I may go to the a-5, but those flashier markers just arent for me .

Ions are well built, but a Tippmann is going to be way more reliable. The Ion is the way to go unless you put alot of money into the custom pro. But I think you mean the custom pro E which is very good too. Still alot of money your going to have to put into the custom pro E in order to match the Ion. Yes and no. It's not going to be in the sense that you don't need to do anything to it as far as maintanence, as you would with your CP and it'lll work as good as it ever did. Your going to have to take care of the Ion and clean it regularly (you should). Now if you do those thing, it'll be as reliable as anything.

Well, you're starting to go down the nasty road of personal opinion. Because then the default question arises about what makes a good marker, what specs define a good marker, etc, etc. Obviously if you're going to an electro, it would make more sense to purchase a marker that is designed for electronics.

It's my opinion that tippmann's are considered damn near close to the best mech marker you can snag. But then again, maybe I just opened up pandora's box...

Each has its ups and downs, but I'd go with the Ion if you have worked with guns before, but if your just starting to play, I'd get the CP.  All Tippmann guns provide a good learning basis.

The ion holds up fairly well, but I've seen my share of them with problems. The tippmanns hold up great. I'd suggest that If you feel comfortable working with markers then yeah, upgrade to the ion. If you don't have alot of money then but you still want to upgrade then just upgrade the tippmann over time.

It depends. Are you playing speedball or rec speedball? if so, get the Ion. If you're trapsing through the woods or playing at scenario games, go with the Tippmann. Simple as that.

It has got to be the Ion.
I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying.
