I hope I am putting this in the right section. I live on 20 acres very very close to the Portland Or area. I am thinking of opening a field with 5 speedball areas, and 1 section of 7.5 acres of dence woods. I am just wondering with a store front selling paint, air, rental markers. What kind of income could be possible from a site like this? If you have a large site. I would like to talk to you. Please email me at wabasspro@msn.com or leave a message here and I will get in touch with you. Thanks much Jim

well, its a better post than others ive seen, however, it probably should go to new players. anyway, i figured i should let you know this before you get flamed. sorry, but im not much when it comes to selling and stuff. im guessing you have taken in account the costs of advertising and supplies? these are important factors when opening a new business. it gives you a limit on what you need to make for profits. |

The first thing is, you need to find out how many people on a daily bases world even come to your place(just like Jman said). If the amount seems good and outweighs the cost then there are some other things you need to do. First you need to get it all Pre-approved(cityhall). Second if you've got the money(if not get a loan) you need rental markers, CO2/Nitro/HPA filling stations, and a really big shippment of Paint. If you want to you can make addmission free and they halve to buy your paint(add the addmission fee to the paint.) If you do this you need to buy your paint from a company that does not sell to the public. After all that you need to buy alot of speed ball props (netting and cover) and make the dence woods player friendly and challenging at the same time. Once you get all that said and done your going to need to get a buisness permit(correct me if I'm wrong). Finally Post ads and Flyers and Commercials so people even know you exist make your prices reasonable and profitable, and have food and beverages ready(don't forget to have supplies to fix your customers guns). Hope you have fun |

You need quite a bit to start off... Whatever you do, don't go with really cheap rental markers and extremely cheap paint. If you buy whitebox, atleast buy a good brand of whitebox, and don't go any less than a pmi semi for a rental, model 98's are good, but getting customs or custom pros are much better. Make sure you can attain the co2 or air you will have to fill also.
You may want to reconsider making so many speedball fields and only one woodsball field. Check out WASAGA PAINTBALL they managed to be (probably) the most successful paintball field I've ever seen, and they only have two speedball fields if i'm not mistaken (one indoor and one outdoor.) It's been my experiance that new players (and most people who would rent) prefer to play woodsball and/or scenario games, and then the give speedball a try, and slowely get hooked in most cases. (most renters will just get destroyed in speedball if there are owners, and that's no fun.) So, you may want to check out what your would be customers want from a paintball place. Having a shop is EXTREMELY useful, and I HATE going to paintball fields that can't even sell you an o-ring. What happens if you don't have any spare, and your gun springs a leak? Hurray, I have to drive for an hour and a half to the nearest paintball store. Atleast sell the basics (squeegies, lenses, oil, o-rings, ball detends of all shapes and sizes, maybe even carry a rack of batteries for the owners with electronic guns.) Hope I helped, just remember, the more you can offer a customer, the better chance they'll come back. I definitely believe that a field with a small shop that sells maintainance equipment doubles return customers compared to one with no shop, unless they have rediculously low prices. |

Don't forget you have do hire refs, also you might want to look at what you would need for insurance. I am a business major so if you have business questions feel free to ask me. Make sure you have money to start this thing. For the first year or 2 you will loose money so you have to be ready for that.
