So, my dinky Gateway stereo speakers ain't doing it any more. I want to find a nice set of 5.1 speakers for my PC, and so far, this looks like the best option:
These I really don't want to spend much cash, so... Edited by BARREL BREAK - 13 April 2006 at 9:31pm |

Logitech makes good stuff. I've seen Logitech 2.1 speakers, and so far I've been impressed.

so, I've gotten two testimonials on another forum:
"I have that exact unit, and combined with my onboard soundcard (8channel) it sounds AMAZING. The bass is powerful, and the highs are clear. I only have two qualms. The headphone jack is controlled by the soundcard volume and not the voulme on the unit. And the volume dial seems a little wobbly." "I have it too. For the price, I didn't expect much bass, but somehow, there is more bass than some more expensive units. And the sound quality is brilliant." |

I have the X-530s and I've been real happy with them.
I got them on Amazon for $44 after rebate and free shipping (that was a while ago though)I'm not sure what the whole wobbly-knob guy is talking about. Mine is really solid, and I can adjust my headphone volume with my keyboard, so it's not a prob for me. Thing that bothers me the most is the subwoofer volume knob being on the back of the sub. It's hard to find a good level of bass. Sometimes it seems like it's howling and resonating to a point where it's annoying, then other times it's too quiet. Also the speakers can't mix up stereo audio into 5.1, so make sure your sound card can do that. And Creative's 5.1 offering offers more pure volume if you're gonna use these to DJ a dorm room or something, but the Logitech's have more mid-range and accuracy across the frequency range from what I've read, and they're plenty loud for me and sound great for gaming and music. I don't watch movies on my PC much. Highly reccommended overall. Edited by Jack Carver - 13 April 2006 at 11:00pm |
