    Posted: 23 May 2006 at 5:47pm
I was playing on sunday and my A-5 cyclone stopped feeding when I had paint in the hopped. I could manually load a ball into the chamber using the plunger in the cyclone. I took the hopper off and emptied all my balls out of the cyclone and it would turn just fine. If I put a single round into the cyclone it would feed until it reached the last slot then stop turning. I know the paint isnt the problem.  I checked the ball detent, screw on the gear and all the O rings on the cyclone feed and cant find a problem. What could be causing this problem?

Broken Ratchet.

Call Tippmann and Tell them you need a new one.

Edit: There are no snipers in paintball, get over yourself.

Its not the air, it was a full tank and I took the cyclone apart and I dont see any excessive wear but Ill call Tippmann anyways and see if they will send me a new cyclone.

This may be a silly question, but are you positive your marker was cocked at the time you did this little experiment?

Could just be that you ran outta gas on the field.  And then when you took it apart to test (with the single paintball), your marker wasnt cocked.

hey.

take off the 4 screws on the bottom of the cyclone.

in clear or black (depending on the year model) 2in long thing on the inside with the black spin axle going through it is the ratchet.

the ratchet connect to the teeth of the black spin axle (which is star shaped and in the center of the bottom of the cyclone)

take a close look at where the ratchet meets the axle...

You may have to undo the center screw in the upper section of the cyclone to get it loose...make sure the ENTIRE contact region between the black axle's teeth and the ratchet's catch is not damage...but Sharp and has a good Edge.

I would suggest taking a look at the Diagram for help.

www.tippmann.com then goto customer service and click on manuals or diagrams.

You may just need a ratchet...

You haven't been here long enough to know this, so I'll fill you in. You would be highly surprised at some of the stupid stuff people do.

I had the same problem with a brand new a-5. I took the cyclone apart and there was no visible problems (yes i know what i am doing) so i called tippmann and they said i could be a "dud" and they sent me a new one. I plan on sending back the bad one and getting it repaired then i have a spare. But there is nothing wrong with the cyclone that doesnt work. all parts are in good shape and seems to be fine until you try to use it.
