Does anyone use this sight and if so are you satisfied with it? Does anyone have any suggestions of a better Red Dot system?

Pumpker'd; (V.) When a pump player runs up and shoots you at point blank range because you thought 20bps made you good.

Couldn't find it on opsgear. So far I've only seen it on xtremez.com.

It won't let me create a hyperlink, but I found it on xtremez.com. Only place I've seen it so far.

Create a hyperlink? You can't copy and past like this Anyway, those are virtually useless in paintball. A hit that splatters paint on the LED or on the back side if the lens is virtually impossible to clean off. And the electrical circuitry is not protected from moisture so trying to use water to wash it off is likely to short things out. I know from personal experience. Also, that price is exorbitant! I bought several off Ebay for $6 each. The sight below is a much better choice...it is sealed and can be washed with water or lens cleaner. It will take the hit of a paintball at point blank range and suffer NO damage...for $25!

I would still need a sight rail off set if I wanted to put a scope like that on my A 5. Right?

No more so that needed with the other sight. People do not understand that one uses these non-magnifying sights with both eyes open. It makes no difference if the view through the red dot site is partially blocked by the hopper, because with both eyes open the red dot imposes itself on the target...even if the front lens is completely blocked. But if that is beyond conception, then Lapco makes a very good offset sight rail that works on the A-5. |

I use a red-dot sight made by a company called BSA (as Bruce A Frank has shown above , 30 mm Black), and as Bruce said , with a sight , you should be using it with both eyes open . I play with it mounted directly on top of my 98 Custom (with a RD centerfeed blocking it) , and if that wasnt enough , I leave the front cap on . No parallax problems and I dont have to worry about taking a hit directly on the front lense . I have taken front lense hits, no damage. Walmart carries them for about $20.00 (so no biggie even if I do manage to break it) The sighting system, ie ; red-dot type sights are for quick target aquisition in low light situations (practically useless in full daylight) <img src=" http://shadowminion.mypicgallery.com/tippy98c/widowmaker4.jp g"> Its a good sight , what can I say . |

Ok. Thanks for the info, it really helped.
Will I need anything to mount it on my gun? Edited by BuckEBuck - 02 August 2006 at 1:43pm |

Well, no and yes. Both the 98C and the A-5 have grooves on the top of the receiver to accept either the 7/8" clamp mount (Weaver) or the 3/8" mount. The BSA sight with the 3/8" clamp will bolt right on. There are adapters out there that will allow you to fit either clamp to the marker easily. There are also raised mounts, mil-sim types, that clamp to the marker grooves and accept either sight. And Lapco makes an off-set mount that will accept either the Weaver or 3/8 system.
