use teflon instead of O rings

10 o-rings for 2-3 bucks USD??? Man where the hell do you shop?

I get like 100 for like $9-10 USD (i think thats what it would equate to NZD - USD)

Plus if some of that tape gets shot through your airsystem, that can screw your valves so bad. Not good for something that gets taken on and off so often.

People who are organised are just to lazy to look for things.

take nail polish and make a tick mark on your tank and your asa that represents 1/8 turn before the gas sprays out. then when you take your tank off, line them up and dry fire.

I dont recomend using teflon tape anywhere on your gun. blue thread lock works great. And if you keep breaking orings, look into getting a on/off ASA. I got one and I have never blown one sence.

I've used teflon on my 68 carbine and never had a problem with it.

As for using it to replace an o-ring, it is a handy field expedient way of doing things, and I don't forsee anything happening that could be dangerous of harmful to your marker.

Alot of guys around here are very conventional, and any time an idea comes up that goes against the flow of 'how thing should be' its 'retarted' or 'dangerous'

Personally, I wouldn't use teflon in lieu of o-rings, but only in the ABSENCE of them.

Like mentioned, taking the tank off your marker properly is a good way to ensure that you don't kill your o-rings.

Unscrew your tank about 3/4 of a turn (if air starts to leak, you've gone too far) What that does is relieve the pressure on the tank valve-pin, so its not depressed anymore, and allows no more air to flow into the marker, the only air left, is the stuff that is ALREADY in the lines and valves of your piece.

Remove your hopper and fire the marker a few times to get out any gas that is still in there. (You'll get about 4 shots out of it before it burps empty) then simply unscrew the tank the rest of the way, and presto- no back pressure shredding your rings.

The o-rings get chopped up because when you take the tank out right away, you depressurize the marker, meaning the gas that is already in there looks for the quickest way out----the now open asa, and that back pressure destroys o-rings like mad.

unless your braking ten orings a day then its not that big of a deal.

well without an o-ring the air from your CO2 bottle would constantly leech out that relief hole on the side of your ASA. That hole is what allows you to take off your tank without killing o-rings.

I use Teflon on all my guns, and have yet to see a problem. The only risk is chunks of tape debris getting into your valve, and I have yet to have that. Just make sure the tape is applied so when it's screwed on, it turns with the threading, not against it, if you know what I mean.

	my idea is to use teflon tape instead of O rings for co2 canisters. the reason is because you can buy a six foot roll of teflon tape for about 2-3 dollers vs. ten orings for 2-3 dollers. you can buy teflon a lot more places than O rings. costs less. the poll is so people can tell me if this is a good idea without posting. if you think its extremely retarded please tell me why.

	You sure would have to use a lot of teflon. Also, if you know how to take a tank off correctly by releasing all the air in the line and stuff, you won't need extra o-rings. I think in my 3 years of playing, and I do play frequently, I have only had to replace like 3 o-rings.

	jawa_nz that is true if it went through your air system it could plug it up. so thats why you be careful to put it only on the part with threads. RoboCop it only takes 2-3 wraps, if you ask me that isnt very much, but thats just me. Carl_the_sniper teflon is sold at hardware stores, and stores that sell pipe fittings.

	an94 i have put a lot of upgrades on my gun and used teflon and never had a problem also maybe teflon could just be a backup incase you didnt have O rings

	I have heard of cases where Teflon gets sucked into the valve, or R\T\Cyclone.. I will ONLY use Teflon for the 90 Degree Elbows and NOTHING MORE, O-rings are there for a reason, Teflon would be cheaper sure, but there is a reason you don't find Teflon sealing on your Front-Bolt or in your valve
