Cleaning is no different than any barrel. But, the inside texture is a bead blasted one so it picks up a little gelatin from the paintballs going through it. Therefore periodically it needs to be cleaned with hot water, good dish detergent (Dawn) and a squeegee worked back and forth. The function of the Flatline is truly worth it. You will make shots with it, even on the speedball field, that you wouldn't attempt with another barrel. But, the Flatline requires good quality paint all the time, and getting it set up just right on the marker is critical and some think it difficult. If you like the idea of what the Flatline can do for you but you don't want the hassles, look at buying the Apex. The Apex shoots most any paint very well with none of the finickiness of the Flatline. Plus it has the added features of shooting curves left and right with a dive-bomb mode. The amount of back spin is adjustable allowing you to compensate for different brands and sizes of paint. |

Bruce hit it right on. Flatlines are worth the money, but it may take time to find the correct paint and position on the marker. The Apex is a great alternative to the Flatline. |

I would say clean if after every time you play. Just run some god warm water and soap through it when you get home and it will be great.
I would also suggest the Apex over the flatline if fields in your area have a "field paint only" rule, since a flatline isnt going to get the performance it can out of white box paintballs. |

This is the reason thee is a hassle with the Flatline. To clean it with hot water and dish detergent requires removing it from the marker...causing you to have to set it up again. As long as it continues to shoot well you probably won't have to do the water and soap method. But , when accuracy drops off in the middle of a game, nothing will fix it until it is soap and hot water cleaned... which is why I prefer the Apex. Used to do the hot water cleaning thing after every day of play...but usually, depending on the paint, I could go 5 to 7 days of play before my accuracy began to drop off...then hot water and soap brought it back to like-new operation. |

to use a a5 flatline 4 a 98 custom ...even with a 98
