I recently purchased a tippmann drop forward for my custom 98. I'm running CO2 and wanna install a tippmann expansion chamber now as well.

I am concerned the gas line will now be way too long, since the CO2 bottle is now much farther forward on the gun. Is it possible to shorten the gas line? I can't do it myself, but was wondering if taking it to a machine shop or something would help. Or am I just worrying over nothing? I've seen some setups that have really long gas lines, and I don't like the look of them. I guess my big concern is with aesthestics. Please help...I'm a noob...

Well, if it is the wire mesh one, you can just bend it accordingly. They are pretty flexible. If you can't or don't want to, go to the local shop & get some macro line, which can be cut to what ever length you need.

Most pro-shops also sell steel-braided line in various lengths which would work as well.

Thanks guys..I've heard macroline is not strong enough to take the pounding that CO2 puts out...is that true?

I'm headed t the proshop on Saturday (it's an hour away, as we have no paintball suppliers in the small city in which I live) so hopefully they can help out.

It used to be that certain brands of macro wouldn't hold up well, but now they almost all have a psi rating printed on the outside of them. Get 1500psi burst strength and you shouldn't have an issue.

The only problem I've had with macro-line is it exploding when my gun was layin in the sun, but if i had been running steel braid, my burst disk prolly would have gone anyway.

on most setups, macro just looks tons better.

Ok...you sold me...macro doesn't look very expensive, so maybe I'll give it a shot...(pardon the pun)...thanks for the advice :)

Like I said, make sure to check the psi rating. If it's high enough, you're good to go!

Mack brings up a very good point. Macro is great for straight shots and easy curves, but don't even think about twisting/bending it around like you could steel braid.

I'm looking to go almost completely straight with it...and while I haven't measured the length I need, it's likely only to be three or four inches...if that.

What is macro? Can I buy it at the hardware store, or only paintball proshops? I play only woodsball, is it strong enough to take the pounding of running through the bushes and crawling around in ditches?

Macro is a hard plastic that is pretty tough.  Its not quite as tough as steel braid but as long as you arent beating your gun into things repeatedly you should probabl be ok.

Installed the x-chamber and macro tonight...t'was a breeze...the installation, that is.

 

Had a few problems with air leaks, but I seem to have that solved too...took the better part of an hour.

no problem... grab a roll of teflon tape if you havent already and you can stop up any leaks you may ever get.
