So I cracked the cyclone system on my A-5, the plastic part that holds the
balls and hopper. Its really small and probably won't cause any problems but to ease my conscious I want to glue it back together. What should I use? |

Take a picture of it and post it for us to see. I never like giving blind advice without seeing the problem first hand.

yeah, take a little bit of epoxy, and brush it on the outside. The crack isn't detrimental though. The cyclone will still work.

Agreed. Should he do it with or without the hopper installed? Edited by StormyKnight - 09 March 2008 at 8:32pm |

Perhaps with your experience with adhesives, you should stick to your popsicle crafts and your low end model building instead of paintball, much less giving advice on the subject. Edited by StormyKnight - 09 March 2008 at 8:37pm |

The plastic used for the cyclone is not typical cheap plastic. Its got carbon mixed in with it for strength. Typical adhesives would not be wise here.
Apply some epoxy all around the crack. When it sets, sand it smooth. |

My question was concerning keeping the hopper in place to make sure that the cracked feed neck stays in place when the epoxy is applied. If the feed neck is pushed inward even slightly after the epoxy is dried, he might not be able to install the hopper. |

the piece does not appear deformed, so i would doubt you need the hopper installed to hold the shape while the epoxy is applied. you would be much better off doing it without the hopper on there. plus, the epoxy would provide enough give that it would work even if it wasn't perfectly aligned. IMO it's not worth risking permanantly attaching the hopper. edited for fat fingers Edited by danw77 - 18 March 2008 at 5:16pm |

yeah, don't use that gorilla glue, that stuff is amazing and don't get me wrong i use that stuff everywhere. The problem is that it expands and would end up getting in the way if you put it there, epoxy is a done deal. I wouldn't go too light, like just brushing it on the side won't make much of a seal so don't be afraid to use it generously, b/c you don't want it to break again.
