Sup guys I just got my gun of someone and they have done a fair bit of work on it.
The problem that i have is that the expantion chamber is leaking between the middle and top of the handle, if you have one you will know what i mean. Any help apprecated would really like to fix it but would need to know how to do it or it even can be. |

I have one and I'm not sure what you mean. Is it leaking from an air fitting on the side or is it leaking from where it is screwed into the marker?

yeah it kinda is confusing, well if you look at the chamber right, thats the front grip. It seems to be leaking from the top or middle part of the handle.
Im not entirely sure where it is leaking from but when I screw in my Co2 to the gun it starts coming out of the top of the handle. More to the point is can the expantion chamber actually be opened or not? I have a feeling that its leaking from the top line where it connects to the chamber and the fireing chamber Edited by DeathAdder - 12 March 2008 at 8:31pm |

If I were you, the first thing I would do is check/replace the o-ring on the expansion chamber.
To do so, detach the ASA from the grip frame then just unscrew the expansion chamber from the front grip using a counter-clockwise motion. Reverse to reinstall. |

Good luck. Expansion chambers are horrible to disassemble for maintenance. The segments are usually loctited together, youll need a bench vise and a strap wrench or so to even try to break it apart.
I wish I could offer more, but a leaky expansion chamber is usually a nightmare even for an experienced airsmith. |

If it is that much of a problem, it would be far cheaper to replace it rather than have it repaired.

Both of the above are true. However, from the way he described the problem, if he is very lucky, it might just be an o-ring.
Edited note: Heck, if his expansion set up is exactly like the picture, the x-chamber may just have backed out a bit. Edited by Mack - 13 March 2008 at 2:49pm |

If your expansion chamber set up is exactly like the picture you posted, it is actually two separate pieces. The dull somewhat "L" shaped piece is actually a vertical adapter; it is an after-market addition that allows you to replace the standard front plastic grip with an expansion chamber. The shiney black piece is the actual expansion chamber. It screws into the vertical adapter the same way a tank screws into the ASA.
If you look closely at the bottom of the expansion chamber you will notice a seam. This feature allows the bottom of the chamber to rotate independent of the rest of the chamber. This is to allow for proper alignment of the air line on different marker applications. Because of this design, it is possible for the upper part of the expansion chamber to be turned (essentially unscrewed) from the vertical adapter without having to remove the ASA from the marker. (This is never a good idea as the stress put on the expansion chamber from to short of an airline between it and the ASA could cause mis-alignment/cross-threading issues.) Anyway, the expansion chamber may not have been screwed all the way in during installation. Another possibility, if the marker has seen quite a bit of use, is that constant handling of the expansion chamber while using it as a front grip may have unscrewed it a bit. |

I had that exact expansion chamber as well, but never had any problems with it at all. As Mack has already pointed out it could be two maybe three possible problems. 1. Broken o-ring on top of the expansion chamber not creating a seal. 2. The actual expansion chamber has unscrewed over time and is now not flush enough with the vertical adapter to create a seal. 3. The expansion chamber is not tightly assembled. It can be taken apart into two segments after being unscrewed from the vertical adapter by simply using an alan key at the tip of the chamber before the o-ring. I have taken mine apart and cleaned it more than once and have never had problems even after assembly. Best of Luck, Red Eye |

Yeah It looks like it jsut unscrewed a bit overtime. does it matter if I tighten it so that it doesnt turn? doesnt seem to effect it.

Yeah just screw it back in, but what would be better is if you wrapped some teflon tape around the expansion chamber threads so you wont have the same problem happen again. Red Eye Edited by Red Eye - 16 March 2008 at 8:33pm |
