Hello there, I've done a bit of Googling and forum
searching and cannot find any direction on how to remove the gas line from the power tube. I'm installing the Cyclone feed system on my Tippmann 98C and either the gas line is stuck or I'm not applying enough force... is there any particular method that makes the removal easier? Also, this probably isn't the place to say it but it's ridiculous @gmail.com addresses are blocked from registration and the non-case-sensitivity of passwords is severely outdated. |

So upon further Googling I found it was stuck due to
Loctite and having the unit sit in boiling water for a few minutes seems to have done the trick. Everything looks fine but I sure hope the heat didn't damage any of the parts. |

The heat wont, but the water could.
Make sure you dry out the inside of the valve or some of the parts might rust up. drop some lube in the asa when you get it put back together as well. |

Maybe its just me, but I wouldn't put my plastic powertube in boiling water for a few minutes. Is that good for the o-rings?

Water wouldnt hurt o-rings. And Monk, nothing inside the valve can rust. The valve is aluminum, the plugs and seat is brass, and the cup seal and spring are stainless I believe.
Anyway, for future reference the best way to do this: Clamp the powertube in a bench vise, wrap it in a soft towel or something so its not directly getting smushed by the vice jaws. Then just take a wrench and turn the hex portion of the gas line. Itll come right out. Be careful putting it back in, the valve is pretty soft aluminum, make sure the threads are lining up before you tighten it in. Edited by Enos Shenk - 27 October 2008 at 10:20pm |
