Well the morning fiasco is over. The classic moment is when the 13 year old step daughter opened her largest present and got her new HP Netbook, and then said it's not fair when her 17 year old brother got an I-Pod Touch. The back story is her I-Pod is dependant on her next report card and no "talking in class" comments from teachers, which she is already negotiating, which is a bad omen.

SO in her logic I-Pod>Netbook I losing touch with kids today. She now no longer has to fight with brother over the desktop in his room for her "networking", but that is secondary to an I-Pod, go figure.

That is an interesting dynamic there. I would most certainly pick the laptop.

Then again, I think since the history of time, OS, any attempts to understand properly the 13-year-old brain have been futile.

NAH, NOT UNGRATEFUL, SHE JUST REALLY WANTS AN IPOD. SEE IF HER ATTITUDE CHANGES AFTER SHE FINDS OUT THAT SHE'LL NEED A COMPUTER TO ADD FILES TO HER UPCOMING IPOD.

AND IF SHE STILL WANTS THE IPOD MORE THAN THE LAPTOP, SEND IT TO ME.

I don't know, it's christmas, she should be grateful shes even getting anything, let alone a freakin computer. I feel guilty asking my parents for gifts for xmas, thats why all I got were some Cd's and an impact. Hell, the impact and swivel are going to work, so really all I got for xmas were 4 cds.

Yeah, i would happily take a laptop, I got nothing except a 20$ bill in the mail from my uncle due to money problems, so she should learn how to be grateful.

She will love it when she sees how useful it is.

just because its a typical reaction, does not mean it doesnt stem from being spoiled.

Seriously guys, I'm an only child, and I have always, even at a young age felt bad asking for and receiving gifts on Christmas, to me it's just another day. I guess I don't feel entitled to get gifts on Christmas, it's just a bonus, so even if she is only 13, she needs to realize how lucky she is to be getting gifts.

I don't think its the fact that she doesn't appreciate the gift. Its more of the sibling rivalry aspect. You wouldn't understand that aspect because you are an only child (no offense). Siblings always want the best gift when they are young (and sometimes older). Its just how it goes. She probably just felt that the iPod was the better gift. She will get over it.

I suppose it's kind of like two kids get a happy meal, but you have to make sure they both get the same prize or they will fight over them ? I've seen it a million times. I come from a large family and I'm like the only child, I've seen the others argue lol.
