A little different set-up for an A5 than what's usually posted on here. Nice work so far.

I like it... but it doesn't seem "frilly" enough to be a 416... I guess that doesn't make much sense. It needs some filler I guess: stock addons(like those rubber pads and such), silly weight-adding things, I dunno... IMO I think a 416 actually needs to look overdone; Like an M4C that's trying too hard, but still looks good doing it...like it was meant to try too hard).

...and after looking at a 416 for a second, a think a bottom rail going from the mag to the shroud(as flush as possible) along with removing that silly frontal protusion A-5's have in front of the front grip would help immensely as would a HE e-grip to get rid of those finger grooves on the trigger frame. Also, somehow filling in where the A-5 nameplate used to be'd help, and if you wanted to drop some cash and if it's possible... if yall've checked out Engler's site he offers an "M4 style rear cocking rod" that I'd personally love to see integrated into that shroud you've got... It might look to have too much of a hump though, 416's just have that sraight, edgy, flow that's hard not to ruin when making a mockup IMO.
I've been planning on making a HK416 but I want it to look super clean and might just purchase an X7 to properly make one(best gun for 416's and SCARS, but sinfully, abominably ugly, when "modded"(read: bolted on) with those lame M4 parts that don't seem to look the part!). Either way, have fun with it, must be fun to tote around. Chikun |

Thx for the tips Robot, but most of them have already went thru my head.. the frontal thing is gonna be cut for sure, with a longer bottom rail, the tippmann rear sight is gonna disappear too under a custom made 416 shroud. In fact, i have many modificatiosn to do on it and the picture is just the first stage of the evolution.
I saw that Engler cocking rod. it looks good, but i dont want a riser mount for now. But it would look great on my 416 tho. maybe later this year. Edited by StPoK - 29 January 2009 at 8:32am |
