i personally have both the flatty and the apex and I perfer my flatline.... and a cyclone and a Pinokio electric hopper. I also have many 98s just with different set ups. and just pick which ever set up im in the mood for that day. Before you need a cyclone or e-hopper you need a faster rate of fire, like and RT trigger or an E trigger, I would recomend the E trigger easier in my expereince to make it work if using a cyclone.
the cyclone is great for rec play and reliable due to no batteries. but they seem to make it harder to get enough gas pressure to work for an RT trigger to work .electric hoppers have a smaller profile for speedball but either way it always comes down to what you like,

A word of warning. Backspin barrels such as the Flatline and Apex are generally upgrades that people either really like or really hate; there is usually no middle ground. Before spending any money on either I suggest you try both if possible (borrow, rent, etc.) just to make sure you're happy with the result you get. I also suggest reading section 5.5 of this post.
I personally prefer the Flatline over the Apex, but there are just as many folks who feel exactly the opposite. (Plus a bunch who hate both of them.) Edited note: As requested > "something nasty" Edited by Mack - 09 February 2009 at 1:33pm |

I own both the flatline and the apex. I actually recently just picked up an Apex barrel though not being particularly fond of the flatline's accuracy. The flatline does add amazing range and is pretty innovative, so I mean it's definately pretty awesome in my opinion. However like I said the accuracy isn't the best in the world. Now the Apex. I only tested out my apex a few hundred shots, I haven't played a game with it or anything like that yet, but from what I see it seems to add a little more distance possibly but was wizzing a few off every here and there and handled a little bit funky. Like I said I only got to TEST the apex a little bit so far, but I think from seeing it's option I'm going to like it better since the apex tip's backspin is able to be turned off. I purchased a J&J ceramic barrel and am going to couple it with the apex tip itself, I imagine it should make a pretty sweet combo. In my opinion I'd take the apex since it's effect can be turned on or off and altered to different degrees. I'd definately say grab yourself a cyclone feed if you plan on upgrading. It's really nice on feeding and you don't have to worry about batteries. Yes they make tippmann stocks, I have one I like it. Not to sure about HPA bottles, I run ol' CO2.

dose the accuracy for the flatline stay good till it hits the extra 100 feet and do you need to tune your gun for it????

You will not make one shot one kills with the Flatline at the longer ranges. (In my limited experience with the Apex, you won't make those shots with it either.) This is not a problem with the barrels, but the nature of the projectile. Paintballs are spherical low-velocity liquid-filled projectiles fired at relatively low velocities; all of which are factors that allow environmental conditions to easily affect the projectile in flight. At the longer distances the affect of things such as wind is magnified because those factors have more time to affect the paintball. Backspin barrels are good suppressive tools. Properly used in a woodsball game they can be used to control terrain and interdict the operations/plans of the opposing team, but they are not going to allow the user to sit safely out of range and pick off members of the other team at will with aimed shots.
In regards to tuning there are several things that can be done to make a flatline work better, but the most important one is figuring out what velocity the specific barrel and marker combination works best at with the paint being utilized. As far as paint goes, anything that is fairly small bore will work well. Since the paint needs to develop spin on its way through the barrel you want paint that can freely roll through the barrel. Absolutely agree with this. A Flatline/Apex does not make you a sniper, but it makes you an excellent suppression gunner. Particularly coupled with RT/E-Grip, in which case you can saturate an area thought safe by the opponents. I always enjoy watching guys casually walk around on the far side of the field, thinking they are safe, and then suddenly run for cover when they are surrounded by paintballs.
But another benefit of the these barrels (particularly the Flatline) is the ability to shoot under and through trees and brush. A normal barrel requires an arc, which makes shooting through bushes difficult and under trees impossible. Both these shots are legitimate options with a Flatline.
But, as said above, it really is a matter of taste. Flatline/Apex barrels are not better or worse than straight barrels, just different.

try "Cheaper than dir" or "Shotgun news". The sell kits of parts from the ppsh including the stock. My question to you is this...
How do you intend to make it jam every 10-20 rounds?

The flatline definately is not very accurate at that distance like the other dudes said, so I wouldn't plan on picking anyone off from that distance with a shot or two. It is pretty sweet though being able to shoot that distance, and I mean there's always a chance you could hit them, just do NOT expect it to fly right in on them and splat em out.

i have found that you have to use the right paint for these kind of barrels or you are going to get way frusterated.... you definetly can not use the cheap stuff
