Ladies and Gentlemen, our long dark national nightmare is finally behind us and this tragic stalemate of ideals has finally reached its inevitable conclusion. My roommates have finally caved to my taking out the garbage boycott and have finally removed the garbage on their own accord for the second time since last June. This dark period in our nation's history has lasted for nearly four dark weeks in which we have seen garbage bag after garbage bag stacked in the kitchen next to the overflowing can. But we have persevered and have overcame the difficulties we ahve faced. The countless times where we wanted to give in and just remove the trash just because it was an eyesore. Then we had the times where the smell annoyed us beyond comprehension. Finally we faced mounds of garbage "strategically" placed throughout the house to avoid using the garbage can and we persivered beyond this for a few more days where finally our ideals and annoyance overcame our enemy's laziness and we were victorious.

WE HAVE FINALLY WON.

TL:DR

My roommates finally took out the garbage for the second time in 8 months. Every other time I have done it. I posted a sign saying I would not be taking the garbage out until they did it at least once. It took four weeks for them to actually do it.

I hate my roommates.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

Congrats. Our plan was to leave the windows open and let the seagulls clean up the trash. We got the birds to come in off the balcony but they just made the mess worse. I don't miss college.

When I lived with my old roomates I had to leave a not in my bathroom asking my friend not to pee on the floor anymore, as I was tired of cleaning it up. No idea if he's stopped or not, as I've moved out.

We had a pee on the floor incident a few weeks ago. The one unemployed roommate went out drinking, got blacked out drunk came home knocked over stuff in the living room (I heard this while trying to sleep) then went to bed. When I woke up at 6 in the morning for class there was piss everywhere surrounding the toilet. I woke him up to clean up his mess and he to this day insists it wasn't him even though he didn't even remember coming home.

I can't wait to live by myself.

heh

i'm kind of going through the same thing.... i do all the dishes and stuff... and we even have a dishwasher... so i'm the one who loads and unloads it.  i'm just going to stop doing housework and pretend i'm busy all weekend at school or something.

our new roomy always makes coments about how the garbage situation is horrible... but never does anything about it.

Congrats on your victory good sir, I've had to do similar things in recent years and even now. Having roommates sucks but at least it's only temporary. I too can't wait until I have a place all to myself so I don't have to deal with that crap.

Good story, thanks for sharing. I am glad your roommates did take trash out eventually even though it took them four weeks to do so.  We all should have patience with some people sometimes.

I'm glad to say that's not the case. I'm just getting older, but my roommate stays the same age apparently. I'm 30, he's 23 or something. 

Cool dude, insane guitarist. We play in a couple bands together.

Only issue is if I don't clean something, nothing gets cleaned ever. After conducting a similar month long experiment, I gave up and accepted my fate.
