I believe they now have the 3rd design slide check and they are working.

Ask him to look into it for you.

Don't i know how much some remotes suck.
Even paintball stores get burned on some of these.  Online, no one pays attention to name brands on remotes, so price becomes the deciding point.
First, a few basics on remotes.  Remotes fail in three ways.
The quick disconnect (QD) fails.  this is from the ball bearings in the femaie side falling out or by soft metals being used and the part wears out quickly.  The QD uses a small oring inside to seal the coupling.  This cane be blown out when disconnected under pressure.

The slide check fails.  The slide check has 2 orings inside it which slide back and forth to open and close the slide check valve.  Commonly, these orings are the same as CO2 bottle orings.  If the slide check leaks, take it apart and replace the orings.  At this point I would also polish the slide check cylinder making sure there is nothing to scratch the orings.  When using the slide check, always use a twisting motion.  This will change the wear points on the orings so they last longer.  Sometimes the problem with the slide check is poor tolerance in the manufacture of the metal parts. (they are not the right size)

The last problem is pretty rare now.  This is when the hose itself blows out.  This was a big problem 7 years ago.  I think all the remotes today use proper pressure rated hoses.

Now to answer you question on which ones work:

Tippmann makes a remote (Tippmann Remote)  This one does not have a slide check.  It works well.

Remotes made by CMI work well

Custom Products (CP) has a good remote that is a bit more expensive.

Pure Energy remotes have worked well.

We carry all of these, but only the Tippmann version is on our web site.

(I notice that the Tippmann remote is "out of stock" at moment, however they come and go every day.)

I have also found that remotes like a fair amount of oil on the o-rings. Especially on the slide check.
