starting next week!

We have a tradition in my house that we started last summer. Every Wednesday on ABC, the shows "Wipeout" and "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" were on the air last summer. I'd cook a Japanese meal, we'd drink Asahi, Sapporo, and Kirin and down a bunch of warm Sake and then watch the shows while nice and toasty. Wipeout came back at the beginning of this summer, but ISAJGS was nowhere to be seen. Turns out the season premier is next Wednesday! So, I'm gonna kick it off right with Tenzaru Soba, Shrimp Tempura, Moochi, Gyoza, Sushi, and lots and lots and lots of sake!

Whale, when you come up here for your week in July, I'll make sure to make up a nice big meal for that Wednesday.

Wipeout is a good alternative choop. Plus you can understand what the contestants are saying. Tonight's game has been completely nuts so far.

ABC's marketing makes wipeout look like a terrible show

The obviously aren't showing one of the better hosts when they market it:

Rrrowwwrr!

Seriously though, fun show. It's not anything genre breaking or anything, but it holds it's own against MXC style shows rather well.

Top Chef: Master Chefs is on tonight. That's what my focus will be on.

I hope John Besh wins. He deserves to win something.

IMO Wipeout is a lot better than last season.  They seem to have better obstacles this year. (or maybe I just didnt watch enough before)

I like Ninja Warrior on G4 too.

I think they kinda held back last year. If you watched the whole season, it got progressively harder as time went on. They're doing the same this year, but rather than starting over, they're picking up where they left off last year.

Whale, Top Chef I can get into, but Top Chef Masters... ehh.... I'd rather watch some unknowns compete. These guys all make the circuit. It's like watching Iron Chef America all over again.

Because unlike those unemployed hacks or overpaid desk-jockeys that go on those shows, I've got a restaurant to run that demands my day-to-day attention.

Wednesday nights rock already in my book. Half-off sushi downtown or "folk night" at the dive bar down the road. Either way, it's win.

Don't they put actual chefs on those shows to compete against the unemployed hacks? I thought that was the point.

i love watching asians hurt themselves...on tv shows.

weds. are actually my favorite night of the week as well. first we kick it off bowling with myself, boyfriend, a bar owner named Dan, and his top bartender named Zach. then we all had down to dan's bar, order dominos and watch sports then flip it over to comedy central for reno 911, teh daily show, then the colbert report. then we play card/board games, talk about religion/politics or local gossip. then he closes the bar down, grabs us a drink and we head upstairs to his loft to play drunk rockband for hours. but we've 5-starred everything so far except we had like 3 4-starred songs. but that's our thing on weds.

I still see MXC on from time to time on Spike Tv, but Wipeout is way way better of a show, MXC is funny, the commentators are whacky as heck, but Wipeout...well has more Wipeouts, the obstacles are so crazy... I love that show, stayed up till 3 in the morning watching episode after episode on youtube, my favorite obstacle is "the Spinner" you basicly have to stand on a 2/2 foot pad 20 feet above the water, and jump when this swining arm comes spinning you're way, it gets faster and higher till only one is left standing...

P.s...dang Sporx... I need to get into something like that, sounds like a rocking wednesday.

Half the fun of MXC is the amazing voice-overs they do for people :D
