Hi guys ,
I have a Tippman 98 that fires one shot then stops . You then have to recock it every time . I have heard that this is a common problem , but no one that i have met seems to know how to fix it . I would be very grateful if any of you know how to fix it . The gas tank is full and all the working parts are lubricated . And yes I do have more than one ball in it ......lol Cheers Beas

Additional information such as air source and any modifications made to the marker would be useful.

if its pretty much stock, id take a look at the rear bolt and front bolt linkage. also the bolts. when you remove the reciever half, does the two bolts slide freely and with out trouble? also, when firing and it gives you one shot, does the bolt bounce back a few times then stop or is it POW and the bolt stops dead. if its pow and the bolt stops dead then it is a valve problem. if it bounces a few times. im willing to bet its an oring/leakage problem.

Your not supposed to use Gasoline tanks for paintball!
I was going to do this one
"Is your air tank screwed into the gun?"
But I saw gas tank and couldnt help myself.

Let's see. If it's not farting, that means there's air pressure. So something might be jamming the bolt/linkage arm. Did you put the ball detente in backwards? One time, I had this happen to me. Took it apart and found out the bolt o-ring on my Rufus Dawg Delrin bolt popped out of the groove and jammed the bolt when it cycled.

Check the tightness of the receiver screws. They do not have to torqued down, but just finger tight. Also, what is the FPS of the shot that is fired? You may want to try screwing the tank on all the way and than backing off 1/2 a turn. Sometimes screwing the tank on too tightly can cause the valve pin to push too far in and block the air flow.
