I've been meaning to post this for over 2 years. Maybe its old news but I can't find any mention of anything similiar. I've had a 98 since they were first released. Way back in 1998 I converted it to full auto only to quickly realize that the gravity feed was too slow.(big surprise right?) So when the C98 came out I ordered one with a R/T trigger and life was good. When the cyclone kit came out for the 98 I figured I try out the full auto again. So I blocked the seer on my C98 R/T just to see how it do. Well it shot full auto no problem but the R/T gave it versatility. The R/T piston went from being a means to INCREASE the rate of fire to a way to REDUCE it. As R/T valve is adjusted, it works to interrupt the triggers engagement of the seer and slow the rate of fire. The end result is an INFINITE sweet spot. Tighten the valve up enough and you have nearly a semi auto (very hard trigger) loosen the valve up and your at super R/T bps. The rate of fire is adjustable over the full range of the gun's capacity and the R/T's "sweet spot" is infinate.
As I was snooping for some pics and I found a video of some chuckle head doing this SAME mod. Unfortunately, he didn't take the time to adjust the rate of fire down via the R/T to keep from chopping balls. The old blocked-sear ghetto full auto mod is pretty well known, and well known for blending paint. But the idea about using the RT to fix it is...Very clever actually.
If anyone else tries this out I'd be interested to hear or see how it works. I still wonder if a loader could keep up... |

Again, with the R/T, you can adjust the rate of fire down as slow as you'd like,,,,,,or as fast as the guns mechanisms will cycle. You can simply adjust the bps up your guns capacity to reliably feed or down to your field's limits.
Personally I like ability not to have to think to much about "how" I'm pulling the trigger. There's no concentration lost or opporunities for a kill lost on trying to keep the R/T in its 'sweet spot'. As any R/T user knows, as the rate of fire is increased, the "size" of the sweet spot gets smaller and smaller and it requires more and more attention to keep the rate of fire high.

Is there any way you could back up these claims with a video or something? I've personally tried the sear mod and can assure you that it will turn it into a paint blender. But I've never seen it done with a response trigger before. I can kind of see it working, but I can see it being a bit more complicated as well. In fact, I would just think it to be easier to put a trigger stop where the sweetspot is.

Being that its only a 5 minute modification start to finish and is completely reversible, anyone with an R/T can see for themselves with very little effort.

Its just all the BS of making the video(paint/air/ect) and then signing up to some spam inducing site to host it. It'll take me 45minutes longer to do all that crap than it would for someone to just do the mod and test it for themselves.
Question: the 'full auto' sear mod prevents the sear from contacting the hammer, so when firing the sear has no oportunity to wear,,,,how on earth would/could the sear become damaged?
I've shot 3-4 cases of balls through my C98 with this mod and have not shown any signs of appreciable wear or any degredation in performance.
If you really want a video, pm me your email and I'll send you one but I'm not wasting any paint on it. Ill show the adjustability with the R/T and you can use your own paint testing it.

It eats away at the sear and sear catch (on the hammer) do to stopping and restarting the cycle. You see, with just the sear mod, it begins fairly slow, which is why people are able to actually use the mod in a type of burst mode. But the longer the trigger is held down, the cycle gets faster and faster, which chops the paint. Well, the sudden stopping of the hammer when it is cycling in this manner (out of control, per se), causes the excessive wear and tear.
If you are capable of solving this with an RT, then that's wonderful, and a whole host of additional modifications can open up to the Tippmann for much less than they can be purchased, which is why I am interested in this mod. |

Nice. I would like to see it with some paint and maybe a longer video, but I would not ask no more from you. This is good enough to convince me that it is at least worth trying.
BTW, I've put the word out over at the 98OG and the A5OG for feedback on this mod (done before the video was posted because I am interested in the mod). So far, it's hitting on a pretty positive note, and I'm sure some of those guys will play with it until the mod is burned out .Thread at 98OG Thread at A5OG |
