Okay, so as many of you know, I secretly think I'm Rambo, and have an obsession with knives. So, while browsing through the local army surplus store, I decided to pick two up a few days ago. It later occurred to me I can't carry either one in Missouri, but hey, I still love them.
#1: 11.5in overall, 6.5in blade, and the blade normally looks darker than that, but the sun likes to reflect off things.
#2: 9in overall, 4in blade, butterfly knife, handles are milled, very smooth, only cost $6 the lock is plastic though. :\ Both knives are sharp as hell.

I collect knives. Obviously owning a certain type of knife makes me a tool. I obviously bought it because I want to look like a badass and feel the need to project my e-peen to everyone. It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I enjoy collecting knives as a hobby, and I like to have a varied collection.
So yes, usaf is correct.

I came in to this thread expecting gas masks, ALICE gear, and wooly-pullies. I am severely disappointed.

Thing is sneaky, the whole collecting knives thing is rather childish to alot of people. Then when you throw in a butterfly knife, you seem like you are thirteen. Its not like you want a nice high carbon blade, or a small spring assist, you are collecting the OMGZ IM COOL I GOT LIEK THIS MINI MACHETTY AND A BUTTER FLY KNIFE 11111111111!~!!!!! knives.
I dont care, its your business. Im just explaining why usaf is being a tool and calling you a tool.
For example, I collect lighters. So do many 13 year olds. Difference is, I collect vintage and/or odd lighters. I have no bics, one disposable (Vintage cricket that washed up on shore) a few zippos (only ones from places of interest or Vintage ones handed down through family) and several odd ones (1953 Coke, sparkplug, etc).

I'm being a tool? Methinks someone is still butthurt because I hurt all the carboys feelings in another thread.
The butterfuly knife is a stabbing weapon, pure and simple. You have to be an expert in order to do anything cool with them. That particular butterfly knife has a serrated, one-sided blade. Sneaky is not a martial arts expert specializing in edged weapons. I'd understand the collecting thing, if that were a legitimate butterfly knife, but it's not. Therefore= weaksauce. |

Amateur.... If Shorty walked into a mil-surp store with $40 he'd walk out with two full US and German WWII uniforms, 3 NATO issue NBC masks w/ filters, a whole set of whatever the current web-gear spec is (Alice Molle, etc) 3 Kukris, 2 WWI trench knives with Jerry blood still on them, a set of Russian NVGs, a case of MREs and the shirt off the cashier's back. That's what you should be aiming for! |

not a fan of the butterfly knife. I always found it to be flashy but not rugged for street fighting. It does give off a scare factor and is hard to track in a fight, but other than that, it is pretty useless.

When's the last time you were involved in - or even worried about - getting caught off guard if a knife battle street fight took place?
