Hey all,
I'm new to paintball and Im probably going to be getting a 98c PS to start with. After doing a bit of research on the 98 I noticed that a lot of players are putting a Rocket Cock on the 98. What is a Rocket cock and what's the purpose of it? and what's the difference between the RC1 and RC 2? thanks for any help johnny

It really just creates a pull ring to cock the gun.
Its good for reducing the amount of open area around the cocking handle so less dirt and debri can get in, as well as getting rid of any external moving parts. As far as differences between the two, I have no idea. Probably just minor design changes. Overall, unless you want a smaller opening and no moving parts I would not get it. Also, a thread like this should be in the Upgrading and Customization section of the forum. Edited by Monk - 30 May 2010 at 4:08am |

It's fine as long as you don't pay more than $1 for it. I got one years ago and found it to be useless plastic junk.

^^^ I have to disagree. When they first came out they were handy for me because I had trouble remembering to keep my thumb away from the moving cocking handle on the 98. I still keep one on my loaner 98 specifically for newer/younger players who may use it.

^I have to disagree with your disagreeement ;)
I found it more useful to be able to slap the handle back by sweeeping down the side of the gun. I also did not like the way that the rocketcock did not stay locked forward when not in use. I do see your point and maybe I did not have the same issue with thumb slapping because my thumb is always on the other side. |

*They were called "ranger bands" and were quite useful. Unfortunately, they have become harder to find and I am down to my last one. |

I took the one that came with my PS off because I found it annoying. I like to fake air outage (waste of air, but easy to get idiots to stick their heads out) and can't with the RC on. Also, it gets in the way of the carabiner I use to hang the marker between matches.
