    Posted: 10 February 2011 at 1:42am
I took apart my new paintball gun (dont ask why) and put it back together, but now it leaks air like a fat man at taco bell. I haven't even used the damn thing yet.

The leak is coming from in front of the trigger where the gas line connects to whatever is inside the gun. Anyone know how to fix it or what's happening??

The gun is a Tippmann 98 Custom w. ACT.

Sounds like your power tube. Check you tube videos for maintenance or reassembly of the 98c. Sounds like your gas line is loose not threaded in the powertube.

Definitely the power tube. But the gas line doesn't thread into the power tube, it self seals. I think I'm going to have to send it in or find a place to service it.

I can't believe these damn things are THAT sensitive. If I would have known that, I would have gotten a different gun.

Just called the only shop around and they said it would cost close to $100 to replace the power tube/valve.

That's almost the price of the entire gun...**edited** ?!

Calm down. Did you look at the videos for the 98 custom? If you can't find the help on the tech videos. Call tippmann's customer support. The number should be in the box or innthe Tippmann web page under contact us. I suggest you call emailed questions take longer for the techs to get to.

Watch that video on the proper Disassembly and Assembly of your 98 Custom marker. Then pay attention to the power tube section. if that doesnt work then call Tippmann

It may not be.

First question:  Which type of power tube do you have?  Is hose going into it threaded or pressure fit?

I'm assuming threaded but I want to be sure.

If it is threaded, did you remove the hose from the power tube?

I called Tippmann today. Best service department I've dealt with since Taylor Made. They're sending me out new parts today.
