You know how the old saying goes, "You can't fix stupid."? Well, I was introduced to a device today that not only fixes 'stupid', but a whole host of other things including various forms of substance intoxication, threatening behavior, selective hearing and complete disregard for authority. The X2 ECD by Taser.

I participated in today's training by volunteering to "ride the lightning".  Many people think that 5 seconds is a short period of time.  When getting hit by a maximum of 50,000 volts, it feels like an eternity.  My curiosity has been sated.  It is an experience I will not repeat if I have no other choice.  On the bright side, I am now qualified to carry and utilize the X2 ECD by Taser.  I can even remove the darts if necessary.

Removal is fun. We had a gentleman come in to the ER who had Taser spikes in his lip and cheek. I wanted to yell "IN THE FACE!" so badly, but I figured that might be frowned upon.

Yeah, they prefer that we don't remove darts from the "sensitive" areas like that.  Medical professionals in their environment are better suited for such delicate work.
