So my last post on this forum was from back in 2005 and that was around the last time I played with my 98 Custom as well. I started tearing it apart and rewelding the receiver halves for a forward grip mod, but I never finished it. Now it seems pretty hard to find 98C halves, so I am thinking about just buying a new 98C Platinum to have some fun again.
I still have all of my old modded 98C parts like a homemade high flow valve, lightweight bolt, etc. I was wondering what might fit into the new Platinum? It seems like most everything is in the same place, but are there some slight changes that mean the old parts don't work in the new design? Does the Platinum still use the old 98C barrel thread (I ask because I still have my SP Freak kit)? Edited by SnakeEyes - 19 February 2013 at 12:02am |

There's a pair of 98 Custom shells on e-bay even as I type this.
Just do a search for "tippmann 98 custom body." I do think the dude is asking a bit much for them though but I could be wrong given the trouble you've had finding them. Edit: As an alternative, you could check out the RAP4 mag-fed bodies for the 98 Custom. Edited by Mack - 23 February 2013 at 1:28pm |

Damn, I had been searching a little while back but no 98c parts were coming up. I just ordered a Platinum anyway. I figure I can see what's interchangeable and have fun modding up a new gun anyway. I may get those halves just to have a secondary marker. Thanks for finding that though.
