Hey guys!
I am really new at paintballing but I sure am hooked! The thing is, a friend of mine gave me his old Tippmann X7 (original, not Phenom) marker. I have never repaired a gun before, so I searched the internet for the owner`s manual and stuff. I saw some videos on how to do maintenance and basic lubing. So I took it all apart, cleaned it, lubed it, and put it back together SUCCESSFULLY! When I started testing it, single fire shots were OK, although sometimes it shot blanks. But when I switched to Full Auto the real random firing problem began. It was shooting like 2-3 balls and stops. Sometimes even less or sometimes a few more. Overall - random fire. I searched the internet again for a reasonable explanation, and I saw some people complaining that their Cyclon feeder froze with repeating fire. I removed the hopper, and I started firing it with no balls loaded. It fired perfectly, paddles were spinning freely and everything is OK, as long as there are no balls to randomly fire. Really want to repair this gun, because it is really fun to shoot! Looking forward for any suggestions and help!
Thanks in advance! |

When it fires just a few balls then stops, does the gun need to be recocked?

No, it doesn`t. I looked into it a little more and found what I think is the problem:
So I guess a new ratchet would fix my problem? Thank you in advance!

So I changed the ratchet, cleaned the whole cyclone and went to test it. First i loaded 5 balls (each paddle a ball) and I started firing single shots. First one was a blank (guess it was because the cyclone had not yet loaded a ball in the barrel). Second - third ones were ok too. The next one was a blank again. I oppened the hopper to check what was wrong and the thing is that the loaded balls were on the paddles on the far site from the barrel (it had to turn the cyclone a few times in order to load a ball). Same thing happened on Full auto when i loaded several balls. It shot like 10 balls in a row and then it fired a few blanks again, followed by another few balls. So I think somehow the paddles are not loading balls one after another and skipping a few loading cycles. Any ideas on what the problem might be?

^^^ Try filling the hopper. Cyclones tend to have a "popcorn" effect when near empty that blows (?) the balls up out of the slots so they don't stay put. See if you have a problem with a full hopper.

Due to technical reasons I am using a small hopper like this one:
I filled it and when I started shooting on Full Auto it shot like 10 balls and a few blanks afterwards, followed by a few more balls. I think that it may be working fine, considering the fact that my CO2 tank didn`t have much air.
