In January I purchased the Tippman 98 from Hustlepaintball.com (I played before) I decided upon the Tipp98 since I would only be playing in the woods and I'm a rec player.
Now the problem is this when I got the gun everything was fine, I shoot it few times 2 weeks apart. When I went to go play this past weekend. The gun will shot once and then nothing. I took the gun apart thinking it might've been the trigger still doesn't work. I remember I screwed on the house a bit tighter and still doesn't work. I have the double trigger, stock & m4 barrel as the only thing I've done to it. Nothing internally. I use HPA air. My gut feeling its the air tank since I cleaned it with goo-gone before and it rolled inside not through the actual top part. I'm beyond frustrated at this point. Thanks |

Goo-gone? That sounds like something that could dissolve orings. If you got that in the gun, you could have problems with the seals and valve. If it is only a recocking problem, replace the rear bolt oring. If the gun leaks down the barrel, then you have a messed up main valve seal.

Actually, he said he got the goo-gone "inside his tank". I think he meant that he cleaned his tank valve or threads with the stuff. Which means it would be inside the entire gun. Best bet, would be to dissassmble the entire marker, and clean EVERYTHING. If the o-rings aren't gummy, you should be ok. If you need to replace them, you can order parts from Tippmann. However the o-rings are generally standard size, and can be picked up at a hardware store. The manuals state what size they are. Make sure you lubricate the gun really well. If you go to any major store that has a firearm cleaning area. There is a gun oil called Hoppes 9, in an orange bottle, that is recommended.

Also, make sure you ball detent isn't in backwards. That'll cause you to either not be able to fire, or fire only once every time.

Believe me when I say I've stripped down the gun and relub'd it. I brought in a HPA, CO2 tank nothing. Even when it has no air source nothing. I realized that I didn't register in time for warranty work, anyone know how much they charge for that and how long it takes.
Thinking of just cutting my losses and going with something better. I barely used it (3 times) and I checked the the HPA tank with the goo-gone and it wasn't the problem since it never got in the tank. I know it's fixable but at what cost? |

I cleaned off the price sticker with the goo-gone, I never put anything in the actual top part of the tank.

What exactly happens? You put your tank on, pull the hammer back, and when you pull the trigger back the marker cycles once and that's it? Will the hammer go all the way back again, or do you need to do that manually?
I know it's stupid, but check the detent. I've put it in backwards a few times.

Here's what happens,
I cock the hammer back, pull the trigger it fires once. That's it, I try to cock the hammer again no go. I put the detent on the correct side because when I originally opened the '98 when I first got it I took a photo for reference and even watched countless amount of videos on Youtube and nothing happens. |

Here's two suggestions.
1. Try a different tank. It could be the tank isn't putting out enough pressure to operate the marker. 2. Put the stock parts back in the marker. Sometimes aftermarket parts do not work. Let us know your progress.
