An "eye" detects paint basically.  When it detects paint, it allows the marker to fire. 
The desire for polyester is just to powerful.

It goes right where your ball drops into the gun and is inline with the bolt. The eye detect if there is a ball in the chamber or not. THe board will then know if to fire because the eye reads a ball.

ok.. so if you don't have paint the gun won't fire?

An eye is an fiber optic "laser" sensor that connects to the electronic board of a gun. This eye sits in the breech and controls when a bolt with move. If the eyes are on the the bolt WILL NOT move until a paintball has FULLY loaded into the breech of the gun. If there is no paint in the breech the eye will not let the bolt move until it detects the paint.
