ok so the hammer on my 98 custom is tearing the crap up outta my thumb wat do i do (besides keep my thumb away)??????

Paintball Markers don't have hammers, hamers are only on firearms, they slamm down on the percussion cap on a cartridge causing it to discharge, Markers only have bolts and cocking nobs.

back of the valve. or you could go by the logic that the
industry dudes call it a hammer, so it must be one, seeing that
they're the ones who made it and all

just take out the cocking knob, and just stick a pencil or stick in the hole to cock it when you need to. it will have the feel of a sealed bolt, and keep the knob wont be there to hit your thumb which makes no sense.
