They are considered illegal in certain states, and I wouldn't bother
with one anyways, they are sort of heavy, and they really don't help
with the noise, and from what I have experienced, they slow down the
ball a lot too. I just wouldn't worry about noise reduction,
because by the time you're shooting at someone, they'll probably see
you anyways, even if your gun is really quiet.

Use the search button. There was a very mature, well thought-out, thread on this a while back. It included an excerpt from the ATF rules governing silencers and links to barrels with built in silencers that are legal.

there is really no such thing as a silencer for a paintball gun... but you guys can pretend... i mean concidering most of the noise form the 09c is cuz its soo huge and the sear is liek effing ping ping |

When will people learn that certain things (like a real silencer) can not be used on a paintball gun as well as on a regulated paintball field....if you wish to make a silencer....go ahead, jus dont come back here tellin us that you got arrested and we didnt warn you.

They're only illegal if they work on an actual firearm (your state government may or may not classify a paintball gun as a firearm). But, the link above contains a barrel that works like a silencer. Since it can't screw onto a rifle or assault rifle, it's legal. You may also want to get the comp-air system (LPW) to make your gun quieter. *edit* I would suggest getting the 14". The 10" doesn't have enough unported barrel for accuracy reasons. Edited by LordJovian |

Silencers are usless in speedball but im sure you might find a good use for them in the woods. (a big woods course) I personally dont like them and would never use them.

Silencers are illegal. In order to use them you need to file some paperwork and pay a $200 tax to the BATF. Thats after they deem the silencer cannot be used on a true firearm.
