It's Stalin's fault. Or maybe Truman. Depending on your threshold for causality, it can really go much farther back than any of the parties listed here.....Either that or it's the liberal media....I dunno...

Seriously, somebody that says bush is to blame, please state why. I really don't believe it's anybodys fault. And who is to say that the UN can tell countries they can't have something. It's retarded.

While I tend to agree that just blaming Bush is rather silly, a rational argument can be made that he aggravated the situation. Analogy: A murderer was recently convicted in NYC. He shot a woman during a mugging. A couple of thugs held up a group of people and robbed them. One of the victims challenged the muggers - not physically, but called them names, and proclaimed: "what are you going to do - shoot me?" After some back and forth on the subject, one mugger did in fact shoot and kill her. When asked about it later, the killer declared that he "didn't like her attitude". Clearly the killer was a killer, but it is quite likely that he would not have shot this woman but for her attack on his manhood. Similarly, I would suggest that nothing is more likely to make a madman upset than calling him a madman. Bush has consistently used strong rhetoric when describing Kim Jong Il and North Korea - at some point it becomes a point of honor for North Korea to take a stand. Would North Korea have pursued nuclear weapons regardless of Bush? I think so. Did Bush accelerate and aggravate that process? Very possible. |
