are pine cones edible?

Yes.
Unless it is a toxic pine cone then you can eat it and die.

Expect to have a horrible bloody poop the next day though

Best bet is to grind it up into a powder in a coffee grinder then put it in something and eat it

Yea, They are edible... I would'nt eat it whole though, grind it up first. Just chewing it will risk small splinters lodging in any number of parts of your body.



Lube up for the way out, you wont digest the actual wood very well.

i like the cookie idea, but i think i may substitute brownies.  it can be my own "special blend of brownies" 
oh, the cone will  probably be roughly 2.5 to 3 inches

Have fun with that. Make sure to eat a LOT of fiber afterwards.

I wouldn't worry so much about the eating of the pine cone, it's the passing it out the other end that may, ugh sting 

Take it down in one gulp. Don't be a wuss.

Being a fur-trading Canadian lumberjack, I am well accustomed to the ravaging, bloody effects of passing a pine cone.
