On my way into work this morning I was proceeding down a one lane road, minding my own business. The F-250 in front of me went to turn left, but after slowing down quite a bit he changed his mind. He gunned it and came back into my lane, crushing the front quarter panel on my Grand Prix, blowing in my driver's side window, removing my outside mirror, and coming to rest up against my car. He pulled forward off of my car, scratching the crap out of the full length of my car.

He got out for a moment to yell at me. "What the hell?! I had my signal on!" Yeah, but even if that's so that doesn't mean the space is clear. Then he got back in his truck and tried to leave. Good thing his tire was bent inward and he wasn't going anywhere. I got his plate just the same. Eventually we got a cop out there. They were just going to have us file a report at the station, but he couldn't get there.

No tickets were written because the cop says he couldn't figure out exactly what had happened. The other guy said he was just turning right and I didn't slow down. If that's so then I don't see any way I could have hit his front pasenger tire like I did. I'd have had to jump the large curb to do so. I was careful not to move my car until the cop showed up, but he'd moved his.

In any case, no injuries. I was covered in the miracle known as safety glass and jarred a bit to the side, but much better off than the car.

So who will be officially at fault on insurance claims?

I'm sorry to hear that man, rude drivers and big trucks just suck.

I thought the police had to determine who was at fault...? Someone should have gotten a ticket.

Either way, good thing you weren't injured, I hate that occasional ass with the giant truck who thinks his F-250 gives him ownership of the road.

They do determine it, but they dont give you a ticket. Sucks Ref, look forward to an insurance battle for about a year. Some idiot got in my blind spot in an illegal spot trying to get around me once, and their insurance fought it for more than a year. Finally I sent them pictures of the scene and they immediately coughed up the cash.

Actually, I'd like pics if possible, just to see the extend of what crap you have to put up with, etc.

Get Clark and Rambino on your side. You'll be invincible.

Yup, he actually said that.

For sure! And if you get any serious crap from them, just give us the address and your case # (or however they do that) and we'll all write individual e-mails and give them hell.

Our insurance is being great about it so far. And I'm going to take some pictures this evening for the record, and I'll post those. We called in to our insurance company to make sure the guy wasn't going to get any money out of ours.

It's mostly scratches going down the side of the car, but that front panel is jacked up. His bumper actually cut through the metal at one point.

His insurance just called and he's claiming an injury and that the officer told him to go to the hospital. The police report says it's a non-injury accident. He was trying to get more information out of me. Nope. Sorry. I have a police report, the only official record of what happened, to back me up. Hopefully this will be resolved soon, but from what some of you say I'm not so sure.

It's a '99, and I slept too late to get daylight pics, so tomorrow morning. I'm not going to be in to work, so that's something.

It's a solid car, but had he hit the driver side door like he hit the front end I'd have been much worse off. And the airbag didn't deploy. I now look at it warily, waiting for it to go off at any moment.

Haha, so funny if that happens....
