I'm not sure where to start, I've already discussed a bunch with another forum trying to figure out which gun to purchase...
I'm 22, never played paintball but twice for fun... and only play woodsball or woodsball type games. SOME open areas or little obstacle fields... So, I just bought this gun... Ebay Item #: 150115727898 http://tinyurl.com/3aybe5 Now, maybe not anytime real soon, but I'd like to upgrade a few things just to have fun with my friends n such... (maybe down the road even I don't know)... I've gotten all sorts of mixed answers and suggestions, but I'd like to ask you guys your opinions. First, I'm not sure how well the barrel will work out for me. I've heard the J&J S2 or S1? is good. After researching some, I am very interested in the Response Trigger system (staying away from electronics). Also, an expansion chamber, and some type of electronic hopper... Responses regarding the RT... DO NOT GET AN RT TRIGGER! They
are illegal in tournies and somewhat hard to get used to. Plus it
offers 2 modes only and uses air to reset itself. Get an Egrip. Much
easier to install, more modes, and faster with less hassle. R/T is kind of iffy.....i'lld take the e-grip first. Any input would be appreciated... Thanks Edited by Syxx676 - 01 May 2007 at 11:55pm |

wow nice price. however if you jump to fire power ups then you need loading ups. i would get a better barrel first look into a J&J ceramic or a lapco bigshot both good barrels.

maybe a dead on x chamber ( you will also need a vertical adapter) and the r/t and a 12v revvy for it.

Well the link doesn't work so i'm assuming 98 or a5. J&Js are supposed to be amazing barrels. RTs can be great if you want to stay from electronics, though someone else that has more experience can explain them for you. |

Dead On 8 stage expansion chambers are good but you will also need to buy a vertical adapter to be able to install is. the r/t is great wone you get the hang of it and a 12v Revolution hopper is a cheap yet efficient electronic hopper and would work pretty well with the r/t. |

Ok, I am fairly new to upgrading and messing around with my gun, along with playing legitamite games instead of shooting friends in the woods. Let me share with you what I've gathered so far. First off, you got a great gun at a great price. the 98C is near indestructable as long as you avoid throwing it at movin cars you should be able to get it working again no matter what you do. While not being a great gun for speedball I think the 98C is truely great at woodball. Now, as for upgrading the gun if you just ask "Hey, what do you think I should get?" you get responses from people who don't know what you want from your gun. So let me suggest this. Go play games with it. A lot of games. Find out exactly what you think the gun needs for the games you like to play (although anyone who says a new barrel would be right, stock barrels on guns are pretty much designed to suck to keep cost down) I suggest reading this post: http://www.tippmann.com/forum/wwf77a/forum_posts.asp?TID=619 29&PN=1 from start to finish as it will answer a lot of questions you might have and is loaded with good advice. Now, after figuring out how you want your gun to perform you start looking for ways to do it. If you don't mind shooting less balls but want longer range then you would skip out all the fancy triggers and such, but perhaps think of getting a Flatline barrel. That was just one of many possible examples. Read about all the different parts and upgrades and such as you can. Ask endless amounts of questions (someone will answer you) and never just run out and buy something without thinking it over. Get to know how to take apart and re-assemble your gun without the instructions. Learn the names of the bitz and pieces that go in it and what they do. Each part is there for a reason so if you want to change the part you should know the reason. Keep all your old parts even if they seem useless to you now you might need them again soon. Finally, if your playing out in the woods with friends, buy a hand chrono. If your at a range chrono your gun there. Never skip this part or you can really hurt someone. |

hey thanks a lot for all of that info... I have actually read a bunch
of that stuff. maybe you're right though, I should probably play a lot
with my gun until I figure out exactly...
I do, however, think I've decided against the flatline so far... Also, thanks etbarry... I'm wondering if there are any pics around with the vertical adapter/expansion chambers... I can only find things involving the other expansion kit... |

http://www.tippmann.com/product_guide/accesDetails.aspx?id=6 6 This the one? About the flatline, not a big fan of the idea myself, mainly because I think it is increadably ugly looking. |

well I have to agree. You really should play and get to know your gun before you start major uprades so you will know where ypur gun is lacking in your style of play. though i can garontee that you will want a barrel the is about the most common upgrade around. I personaly have 2 barrels for each of my guns. I would recomend the empire twister barrel but from what ive read in thes forum the J&J ceramic barrels are good also. so go out and have fun then decide what mods you want to do.

Wait, do you mean you want to see a pic of a gun with that upgrade? If that was what you ment then look at your gun now, just picture it with the hose coming out of the front grip instead, that is the only visable difference as the front chamber is shaped like the stock grip. |

It i was you, i would get my gun first and play with it see what you want it to do. dont worry about upgrades until you have got out on the field with it a few times.
but if your seeking upgrade advice here: J&J ceramic = awesomeness, therefore buy it now. hundreds of people here agree with me. its the best bang for your buck when you have a new gun. after that the Dead-On Xchamber would be a great idea. Then pick yourself up some form of electronic loader or a cyclone (since your in my camp and hate electronics on a tippmann.) then you should think about the RT. boy will i tell you, it might not be easiest thing to get used to. but after some target practice and a little tuning, boy it rips. those fools with their egrips paid twice as much to get full auto when this thing has pretty much the same effect. but field legal since its technically semi. good luck getting an egrip set in full auto mode on a field. |

ehh the stock barrel should do fine for awhile, and look at the cost of shipping 33 bucks just for that plus 128 is 160, so its ok priced |

They are both expansion chambers but the dead on from what i understand is better than the tippmann. if you have the money to spend id a get a palmers stabilizer which would get rid of about 99% of the liquid co2 problem that you are trying to fix with the expansion chamber and would also give you better consistancy shot to shot under the crono but there the $100 and still require the VA(vertical adapter). oh and prolite forgot bout the shipping so ya good point thats like normal. |
