Why is private healthcare outlawed? Seems silly.

Wow Ontario is full of suck. Does not take that long to get an MRI in BC. Mind you I live in a small town and we have a MRI machine so you can get a scan with in the same week.

What about a blue collar American worker who needs brain surgery?

Is he going to immigrate to Canada to be able to afford the surgery without going bankrupt?

People have no clue how the healthcare really is here outside of what things like this show. I would take the healthcare here over the US any day.

It really isin't as bad as it is said, waiting times are often shoreter than in hospitals in the US. All citizens get free healthcare so they don't have to worry about being too poor or screwed by their insurance company to not get that surgery they need or they will die.

BC blows, face it. Now run along and play with your... trees.

Within the same week kinda blows actually. I live in a larger town and a mri can recieved within a few days or even that day if necessary.

So you go nuts on us when one guy waits an unacceptable amount of time. What about the thousands of Americans who have undoubtedly died due to undiagnosed brain tumors? A medical system based on private payment is completely absurd. Most people get treatment on a timely basis. These isolated incidences are hardly worse that death due to inability to afford treatment.

I can't stop laughing at the narrator saying "the system that has failed so miserably". I now believe Canadian and American definitions of "fail" and "miserable" are very different...

Exactly why I'm against universal health care. You get what you pay for. I have great health insurance, and I can rest assured that if anything were to happen or pop up out of nowhere, I can get whatever treatment I need immediately. If my doctor and I suspect that I may have a brain tumor, I could go get an MRI tomorrow morning.

And? I can get healthcare immediately also. I gurantee that anyone in Canada can get full healthcare immediately if it is required right away. Also, I have heard more than enough stories of insurance companies screwing customes over technicalities.

Any how much experience do you have dealing with free healthcare High Voltage?

If you are to base your opinion on what you have heard and read, than why can't I?

Sure, maybe you can get some sort of care immediately, but I can guarantee it isn't top quality. Like I said, you get what you pay for. Free doesn't get you top quality, and when I'm dealing with my own health, I want top quality.

Ok clear something up for me please.

In Ontario, could you get private healthcare if you wanted to? I can't think why it would be "outlawed" as the narator put it.

Why do you always try to turn questions around on everyone? It really does make you look stupid. I said nothing about your healthcare system, I really know nothing about it, nor do I care. So answer the question carl, how much experience do you have dealing with health insurance companies?

What do you mean not top quality? Are you implying Canadian physicians are poorly trained? Are you implying our medical staff don't care as much as their American colleagues do? I can assure you medical care in Canada is of at least equal "quality" to that in the states. We don't turn down care because of a bad credit card. You, in many cases, do. (You of course not referring to you personally, but the american system).

I think I take medical care for granted for the most part.  I almost always bypass triage if there is any room, and care immediately there is a room.

One of the best parts about living in BC, you don't live here.

Imagine there’s a picture of your favourite thing here.
