I'm new to the truck scene (1993 F150 in great condition. Should get wednesday!)and i'm already looking to upgrade (omg shoot me).

1. I needs new shocks. I find it annoying when trucks lean forward. Any suggestions for a good shock for the price? I would like to get high-rise shocks so I can lift my truck somewhat and buy some spacers or something for inbetween the leafsprings/axle. I'd get airshocks and put too much air so my tuck is lifted but I dont feel like screwing up my truck.

2. Im like DaHui and have 2wd (NOOOO!). Does anyone know what years/models have the right  transfer case/driveshaft/front axle to convert my truck to 4wd? Im guessing the 87-96 F100's-250;s would work but thats only a guess. I want to be like HP and buy a junked parts truck .

it would be easier (and cheaper) to sell it and buy a 4WD.

skyjacker lifts are good for the price, i know allot of pepole who have em that love em.

Oh, the 79 is solid, however the 87 is a different story. The motor is good (well it's pulled now ) but it ran great. The body was a horror story though, I enjoy kicking it whenever I walk by to see how much rust will fall out.

I'm just saying the rapid customization and build process inspires me.

Although I'm lucky if I do anything other than shocks, lights and a Dynomax exhaust.

Dynomax=cheap. Worth it or no?

Yea, my friends dad has it on his 98 Dakota, it's sounds really good. He bought it at an auto parts store like Murrays or whatever, it's always cheap, like $50-$60.

It's very deep and throaty. I like it.

Biggest question is how much are you wanting to spend. You can do anything from a Body Lift (inadvisable for off road use though), to adjustable shocks, spacer lift, coil overs, ect. How much a lift are you wanting?

For the rear. AAL (add a leaf) is the best route. Some use rear blocks but these can cause axel wrap and you don't want that. If you have a good bit of $$ to spend, you could go for an all new leaf pack.

For the 4x4, do you really need it? A 4x4 conversion is not a easy task. Your also gonna need the 4x4 Tranny (or atleast you do in Tacomas) to successful convert.

Personally I would leave it 2WD. Unless you truly plan to do some real off-roading you really won't need the 4WD.

The more I'm readining...the more I'm thinking you don't need to do this work. Especially if this is a primary means of transportation.

HP: do you have like a pic of every ones vehicle on here?

Da Hui: I thought about pre running my mazda, but since the truck has torsion bars, it is difficult to get the truck much higher than a stock ranger, without doing a body lift.

Looking at the picture of my truck makes me wonder where the large dent on the left came from. I know the previous owner used it to tip porta johns but I don't think a plastic bathroom would make a dent like that.

Cranking the torsrions? because you can crank them back to where they were when you bought the truck. All you need to do is find the bolt under the truck and use a ratchet which is a pain or an impact drill to raise it up or down. On my truck tight is up loosen is down.

Lift kits aren't good for resale.
