How did nobody notify me of this amazing piece of indy gaming earlier?
Gentlemen, let the space race begin. http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/ This is the most fun I've had since Minecraft. Basically you build a rocket in a Spore-ish editor, stick it on the pad, and see what happens. Usually what happens is very very bad. Oh and don't forget to snag the extra parts pack. Stick the contents in the /parts subdirectory. http://www.multiupload.com/V2CFJ1U4C8 ![]() Edited by Enos Shenk - 20 July 2011 at 7:55am |

I can't seem to get my rocket to work?
I have a 3 stage solid, liquid, solid rocket, but the 1st stage doesn't ignite. Odd. KBK Edited by Kayback - 19 July 2011 at 7:16am |

It is a pretty awesome game; I've been playing it for a few days.
I just added the additional parts and they don't seem to work so well for me. There are problems with decoupling and ignition. Kayback: Push space until it ignites. Edited by ArthurBignose - 19 July 2011 at 7:30am |

Yeah I tried that. I still couldn't figure out what was wrong, so stripped it down and started again.
Solid liquid liquid. 729k. Hmmm lets see Now 1776k, but my stage one explodes. Oh well it gets me on my way. KBK Edited by Kayback - 19 July 2011 at 11:52am |

What was that game from a while back where you made a bridge and then tested it to see if it would totally collapse?
Also, that game we played after Tradewars where there was a simulated stock market?

This is awesome, I just made it to almost 18,000m. Going to try to beat that now. And Whale, you're thinking of BCS: Bridge Construction Set. I still have that somewhere, I should play again
*edit* I'm at 250,000m and still rising, although my rate of ascent is slowing down. *edit edit* 350,000m *now* 450,000m and still rising at 180m a second. I'm curious if I'll just slow down accelerating or if I'll return to earth. Topped out around 470,000m above the earth, and I am now plummeting back towards the earth, so that answers that. I want to try to orbit... Edited by choopie911 - 19 July 2011 at 1:26pm |

Orbit successful, but horribly eliptical. I'm 600,000 from the earth and climbing on this part of my orbit, I should come back down soon and miss the earth much closer as I go back the other way.

OOOOOh I never thought about that. I've got 2115k, but I never thought to see if it was an orbit. It took like 47 minutes to get there :)
Trying to couple the rockets so they don't split, but can't seem to get it right. I've still gotten best result with 4 large solid, one large liquid one small liquid. KBK |

I'm orbiting right now using some of the bonus parts shenk listed. The order is
Parachute Capusle SAS Decoupler SAS Liquid fuel Liquid fuel Decoupler SAS 4 way coupler 4 of the long slender rockets (like solid but taller) Got me way up there rather quickly and steadily, just a bit of wavering. I saw how someone else got to orbit and I'm pretty sure I've got it because I'm WAY up there for a looooong time, but I do eventually lose altitude and speed, so I'm not sure how much of an orbit you can actually get going. |

My most badass rocket so far. If I add any more to it, the first stage engines fall off.

So my 8 double fuel celled liquid rockets + double fuel celled liquid rocket made it to orbit easily. I'm at 2500km above the Earth and climbing 1.5 km per second. So far I've been orbiting for 32 minutes and counting. My speed is decreasing a little, but I'm still climbing, so I don't know how long it would take me to get back.

Starting to get the hang of this- this is fun, although my first few experiments were bloody, corscrewing, exploding disasters.

*edit* Remarkably stable so far. OH GOD NEVERMIND! Also if you missed it, the symetry settings at the top left of the building area is handy for fins. Edited by choopie911 - 19 July 2011 at 6:56pm |
