I think the mods should have a setting where every post with the word sniper would be deleted.

nothin against you but i have an idea that you dont like snipers...is it because u cant beat them? or the fact that while there 250+ feet away and u cant see them they can see and take u out?

Many players will claim that paintball snipers do not exist.  They do, but  sniping in paintball refers to a style of play and not sharpshooting from a great distance as, of course, the distance that a paintball can travel is quite limited.  Sniping refers to a style of play, most often applied in woods games, where the sniper will usually attack by surprise and from concealment, often moving from spot to spot, as they wait for their opponents to come within range or stealthily make they way within range of their targetWhile the sniper won't be found at your local speedball field, you will likely to see them (or not) at a big games, and scenario games, where the fields are much larger, time constraints are minimal, and there are many more people involved.  Naysayers will claim that snipers are nothing more than campers, but here is the difference: the camper will find himself a comfortable spot, usually an easily defended man-made bunker, and there he will stay and happily wait until the action comes to him.  The sniper, on the other hand is working the bush, using any cover to his advantage as he makes his way into the area where his opponents are to be found or sets up for an eminent ambush.  He may hold a position for some time before moving on, always alert for the next best spot of concealment, often taking to the ground to crawl to the next position undetected.

The sniping style of play requires a great deal of patience.  In fact, patience is probably the single most important virtue of the paintball sniper.  If you don't have it, learn it, or try a different style of play, because you can never be more than mediocre at sniping without it.  So sniping isn't as easy as many may think.  It requires patience, skill, and knowhow to be effective at this style of play, but it can also be very rewarding.  There is great deal of satisfaction in hearing, "Where IS he?!" after that covert elimination!

Hey, just think about this.  Every newbie at one time wants to be a sniper.  Theres a sort of romance about it.  Being able to stay far away, safe, and get everyone out.  Marketing sniper products would be a good way to make money.

What kinda barrel do you have....it has to be a flatline. EVERYDAY! you can afford to practice EVERYDAY? i doubt it and ya i think the only kind of sniper is one that is quiet and is highly camoed up. thats it.

OK TROOPS....let us review one more time. "Sniping" as a TACTICAL APPLICATION is totally useless in the game of woods paintball....unless you are targeting newbs for sport. But as an actual COMBAT MULTIPLIER for your TEAM you are useless.

Now lets examine the physics of balistics......I am sure we can find someone out there who can possibly hit something at 250feet with a HOWITZER arc, but for accuracy and consistancy Mr Newton's Laws of physics as well as several others have not been rewritten for the paintball sniper.

Even in actual firearm shooting accuracy at extended ranges beyond the MAXIMUM EFFECTIVE RANGE of a weapon is suspect. The .45ACP fired from a M1911A1 pistol can only hit consistantly in a COMBAT enviorment ar 25m (75feet) and a "hope to hel*" 50/50 man sized target hit shot can be made at 50m (150feet) and that is a better balistic shaped round traveling at 790fps +/-. And we have young einstiens here that claim a soft geletin shelled liquid filled "ball" subject to various balistic faults at 290fps can accurately hit at 250feet? (80meters).

The concept of sniping and "HERO WORSHIP" usually dies once our mismatched ghillie suited wonder, who picks a tactically inappropiate site based only on his markers fire zone fires his first round at someone who actually has some skill in the game. Newb hunts are fun, but try it against a OMHW and see what happens.

As for our video, I could go out and shoot one too, on all the faults of the concept, and I do give a class at TWC's every year, on the techniques of the sniper, and then explain how they do not relate and or correspond to the short ranges of this game.

I am a trained MOS carrying sniper, and have proven my skill on the field....probably why I am so good at picking out the amateurs mistakes.

The tenants of "sniping" are the ability to shoot from outside of immediate accurate return fire, to shoot from outside of visual aquisition range of the human eye established as 250meters, and to site a position that provides cover, concealment, egress, and most of all the ability to do the unexpected.

Sneaking around thru the woods in a mismatched suit, trying to AMBUSH newbs as an individual is not a TACTICAL APPLICATION of the skill, it is a NON TEAM PLAYER attempting to impress those of limited skill that his CONCEPT is correct, but yet only based on a TV/movie read the books mentality, not training and a practical TACTICAL APPLICATION.

I appreciate each and every sniper on the other TEAM for he/she decreases that TEAMS overall COMBAT POWER by one, making our mission accomplishment that much easier.

OMHW wishes to thank all those opposing wanna-be's who attempt this failed concept...and if you are playing alongside us you too can enjoy the fun of our usual game "sniper hunts" as I explain the fine art of "wanna-be sniper hunting" to all those willing to actually learn how to apply an actual LIGHTFIGHTING skill to thier game.

Buy the markers, by the produsts some marketer has put out there, but the ole Mark 1 Brain cell still has to work effectivly for any equipment to work, and if the brain is not working and in the proper mindset, all the "toys" in the world will not help your game.

Read his next post, claiming he can shoot 274 feet. Thats a load of crap and then some. And nobody can shoot accurately at 250 feet, much less hit with nearly every shot. Good job sucking on your facts bud.

All that was in response to:

Do any of you truely understand what maximum effective range if a marker is as compared to maximum range.

Having the ability to howitzer out a ball 100m is fine, odds on a hit...minimal, odds on a break..infentesimal.

The balistics of a paintball, along with the impact energy required for a high percentage "break" is approximately 20-25m that is 75feet plus or minus. The flatline does not increase maximum effective range. all it does is lower the balistic arc of the flight of the ball. The impact energy of the ball decreases proportionatley with range and beyond the MER the percentage of ball break drops considerably.

So the flatline does not give you better "range", your atual MEF is still 20-25m only the balistic arc of the ball is lower making "straight shooting" at MEF that much easier.

I used a original flatline, one of the first, saw no distinct advantage in range, only the differance in the flight of the ball. I am back to standard barrels due to the "problems" inheriant to the flatline.
