Topic: Lapco bigshot 12" Posted: 10 June 2004 at 10:23pm |
i just got my Lapco Bigshot today. and honesty im not that impressed. people say the barrel shoots completely straight all the way until the balls hits the ground, ha nit mine. i shot and it doesnt even go that straight. i shoot and the balls goes somwhat straight then curves. then a ball broke in the barrel. but there was a little wind, but wasnt to bad.
i was using PMI RPS balls, are those the right size? cuz i must be doing somthing wrong, i sure hope i didnt spend 55 bucks on some crap barrel.

I have had really good success with that barrel.
So check to make sure there is no scratches or junk on the inside of the barrel.
Also make sure that the paint isnt old and doesnt have dimples or soft spots.

It's definatly not a crap barrel.
Make sure your velocity isn't too high.
Was your paint old?
Was your paint too big? Try blowing one through the barrel, it should go through fairly easily.

i put a ball in and it went like an inch, then i tyed to blow, but the air just went around the sides of ball, and i couldnt get it out, so i had to puch it back out from other end.
but i thought PMI was the right size paintballs for lapco bigshot
the paint isnt old, the barrel is complety smooth,

Paint will vary in size from case to case.
Try some different paint.

The paint is a bit small for the bigshot if that's the case. Since it's small and air can get around it easily, it's not unlikely that accuracy is lost. If the air can get around the ball it can mess with the trajectory and throw it way off target. You also won't get consistent velocities or range between shots because of the poor seal the ball makes with the barrel. If you can find some bigger paint you'll probably see better results. My bigshot works extremely well with most paint but there are some brands that even the bigshot doesn't really work well with. RPS paint is generally good but the different types vary in size so some are better than others. I like RPS paint for the strong shells and consistently sized paint but it is kind of small, I'd rather use them on my flatline where small paint is desired. I used to use proball until the stores around here stopped selling it and then I started using draxxus midnight and blaze a lot. I also use PMI premium sometimes. When I use the flatline though I almost always go for marbs.

Found this in a topic in repair and maintinance:

I see posts like this a lot, and I had a similar reaction when I got my bigshot. Appearently there was a light oil coating in the barrel(crappy paint will build up oil too) causing uneven friction and making the balls take on weird spins. I washed it with hot, soapy water, rinsed it(running it through the dishwasher would prolly work too), and ran a swab soaked with rubbing alcohol through it a few times, let it dry, got it again with a dry swab. Switched to some quality, fresh, paint, and there was the accuracy improvement I was looking for. I just clean it like that after every day of playing, especially if I get a ball break. |

No.
Oiling your barrel will only make your accuracy WORSE.
