Check out these pictures of the new Scepter Combat Systems Launchers that I found.  They look pretty sweet on the Tippmanns!

Dangerous?!?  How could you be in paintball and say something like that?  If you think the launchers are dangerous why in the world are you in the sport?  Crossing the street is dangerous if you wanna get picky.

Illegal at most fields...

There is no way to regulate the velocity unless you have a reg, chance that the pressure input into the launcher will have to be very low and now work with the gun causing you to up it (illegal), and it has to safety valve such as a pop/check/relief valve.

It may kill the efficiency if the pressure requirments are high/low than the optimal for your marker,

"Average muzzle velocity is 275 FPS"

doesn't sound dangerous. I wouldn't pack one around though.

Because it’s “launchers” and other such homemade crap that make the sport dangerous.

Normal paintball played in a controlled environment is not dangerous.

Considering that 14ft/lbs of energy is the maximum legal limit which is why we have an established 300fps...that 275fps with a much larger, 1.5"-2" projectile has much more force.

Many fields have a chrono of around 100fps-150fps...

I'm more open to the launcher concept than previous repliers. I sometimes would like like to put away my A5 and walk on to the field playing the squads' "room clearer".

I've seen pictures from APG that showed launcher-toters at Big Games so there must be some fields that encourage a lil "grape-shot" on thier property.

I would like to see a larger market for launchers, which really begins with the peoples tolerance for such paint-throwing devices. Our entire hobby is based on the respect and joy which comes from novelty, it would be splendid to see less words like "dangerous" and more words that promote a fair surveye of all the paintball technologies out there.

You MORON, it's not a homemade device.  Check out the website. http://www.scepter-combat.com

I'm sure that they have worked out all those problems that you guys are discussing.  And besides the only reason that fields do not allow something like this is because the customers don't put enough pressure on them.

Most claim that "it's the insurance companies" but it's not.  Trust me, if the demand were high enough, the supply will meet it - simple free economy principles.

Scepter is short for Scepter Combat Systems.  They are a brand new company with these launchers coming out at the end of this month.  They have other products due out shortly, such as a clip fed magazine... shotgun... bolt-action sniper rifle.

There's a lot of talk about it on the Armotech.us forum... check it out.
