    Posted: 09 October 2004 at 7:39am

I am planning on installing a bi-pod on my flatline barrel. I am asuming that because the shroud is hollow, I shouldn't hit anything if I attach it with a self tapping screw. Does anyone see a problem with this? I am not asking about the bi-pod, its going on regardless, I just want to know if it will be safe to drill through the shroud?  Thanks

P.S. It's an A-5 Flatline

I know this has been a topic before, but no one asked about drilling a hole through the shroud. So I DID check first. Please help, Thanks.

Well I take it your attaching Piccatinny rails to the shroud correct? There is a chance of hitting the barrel so I would disassemble the barrel first. Also when you are drilling use a drill press, you'll be happy you did.

Actually by the looks of it, it just takes a single bolt, or self tapping screw. The mount itself fits perfectly around the shroud. I really don't see any need for rails, but I have been wrong before.

A rail isnt needed to use a bi-pod on a A5 Flatline, someone in the marker gallery has a bi-pod on his A5 Flatline.

I think using a rail would be the right way to do it but thats just me. That way you can take it off easily and add other things like grips, lights, ect.

Thats true but, havin a rail on a A5 Flatline shroud is overkill, Ive seen one on a A5 Flatline shroud...its not very appealing.
