The performance of the flatline barrel on both the M98C and the A-5, is about the same.  The A-5 has a slight edge on reliability, but the person pulling the trigger makes more of a difference.  I have an A-5 and my teamate has a M98C, both with a flatline.  On the bench rest my A-5 is more accurate, but my teamate is much more accurate than me in the field.  The accuracy of a particular gun or barrel is very subjective, which is why when you ask which is better, you get so many opposing answers.

the A-5 flatline is a little more accurate (what i have heard) compared to the 98 flatline because of the length of the barrel. The 98 flatline has a longer barrel causing more backspin causing the ball to rise once it goes so far. The A-5 on the otherhand doesn't have the end piece like the 98 causing less backspin. (This is what i have heard and observed) it could possibly the velocity

As for farther, statistically the A-5 should be alittle further since it provides more backspin (so i've heard) allowing the ball to fly in a strait line longer before dropping. Now, without the flatline then they would be the same at the same FPS.

I've owned both, and I'd have to say that the A5 shoots farther, accuracy is about the same on either one.
