    Posted: 18 December 2004 at 8:16pm

hello all the nice ppl out there in tippmann forum land i ahve a good question... the CMI 21" barrel may be my upgrade of choice for my A-currently i have the 14" sniper from tippmann and it works fine just not up to the ranges i need im turning my a-5 into somewhat of a Dragunov sniper rifle AND YES IT IS POSSIBLE TO BE A SNIPER(i am)

is the CMI barrel ne good or should i go with another barrel(no flatlines plz to pricey and to much of a hassel) and speed ball players this is not for a speed ball gun its clearly woods with that big a barrel

but i would be interested in all information thx

Using a 21" barrel will not give you the distance, it will perform jus like any other 14" barrel, but it will use alot more air jus to push the ball out of the barrel and from what the others are sayin in the forum has been sayin bout that fugly 21" barrel (not only jus CMI), you will experience alot of breaks.

agreed. any barrel over 21ins is overkill. you will hate yourself for waisting the money on something that doesn't work properly. I suggest stayin w/ a 14 in or switching to a 16 in of almost anything other than the tippmann barrels unless it is a flatline

Yes, with 21" barrels you will experiene a lot of breaks. I do not have a CMI 21" but I do have 21", and I would think they would be the same. They are some what acurate clean, but dirty, you dont have a chance at hitting anything.  I made a mistake buying my 21".

And yes, I believe in snipers, but there's no need for anyone to try to argue about them in this post. Find one already made!

go with a 12" or 14" lapco bigshot bead blasted , looks real nice and preforms great

any barrel over 14" is usless, u dont get any more distance or accurcy u just waste lots of air

as u already read, the 21 inch sucks. it dosnt get u any more distance, and it wastes more air.

a suggestion is a 14" Progressive or Teardrop.

and if u want, go for a All American(also 14")

very true, the breaks are caused by the difficulty to get any debris out of the barrel, i mean, its to big to even run a squeegie through it. i would get a quiet barrel like the All American or Whisper barrel.  But the All American is more accurate and a little bit more quiet, so go with that. http://www.firstcallpaintball.com/detail.aspx?ID=508 . this is the best deal you will find no matter what kind of barrel yur looking for. the only reason it is so inexpensive compared to the ones you see today is because its an older model (2001). review and personal experiences say that the older model is morfe accurate than newer model, same sound though.(It's one of the quietest barrel in paintball)

Flatline, i don't like it.  Just get a 14" barrel.  If you want a flatline, for the price look at a St!ffi carbon fiber barrel.  Extremely quiet, accurate, and cleans its breaks.
The desire for polyester is just to powerful.

i think ill take that deal with the all american and snipers do exist your just called a scout or a sharpshooter most of the time and your job implements(in my squad at least) getting the flag with out being seen and as little shots fired as possible

but thx for your help with the barrel question

beacuse were not using real bullets, most of the balls go the same distance and a longer barrel doesnt make a difference, so you cant actually SNIPE
