I wanted to clean my barrel, so i removed it from the reciever and ran the tippmann supplied squeegee through it.  Then, I ran it under hot water and dish soap (I put some inside the barrel and dunked it in some soapy water).  I looked inside as it was drying, and I don't really see any texture (this is basically my first time even looking inside the damn thing, so I'm not sure if there's been any change).  Yes, I know either way I'm an idiot.  I have only used it once so I'm just a little jumpy about the whole thing.

Unless you use a wire brush or sandpaper, it's unlikely that barrel has been harmed.  The texture is a bead-blasted finish that is done to the metal not applied to it, so it won't come off unless you wear it down through use(more than 100000 rounds) or abrasives.  What you have described is the proper cleaning technique however, so don't worry about it.

Also, what's the best way to align the barrel perfectly with the receiver?

The inside of the Flatline is glass blasted along with an adheisive to make a fine layer stick. It looks pretty smooth and shiny with water in it, so its normal. It takes a lot including 20,000+ shots to wear it down at all. The best way to align it is to loosen the bolt very slightly so you can just turn it a little, and twist it a tiny bit at a time. Dont forget to tighten the bolt, and make sure the barrel is all the way in the adapter.

like he said, they sandblast it, but you might want to take one of the end-caps off the barrels and make sure that there is no rust in it. also, when you oil your gun, use only hoppes 9. anything else wreakes havok on the inside of your barrel.
Hey, didn't I see you riding the short bus, wearing a helmet, and licking the windows?

the inside of the flatline is not as rough and textured as alot of people think. its not like tippmann glued 100 grit sandpaper inside and said "here ya go!".  its just not smooth, like all the rest

Wow, I have never seen so many miss-statements in one set of posts. The Flatline is bead (sand) blasted on the inside to make it rough so that it provides enough friction for the ball to roll, which develops the backspin. When I say it is rough that is only compaired to a polished bore barrel. Most other barrels have virtually a mirror finish on the inside. The Flatline might be called a "matte" finish on the inside...no luster or gloss. There is nothing that can wash off. Soap and water is one of the best ways to clean it. The Tippmann squeegee works very well...use a little water with the squeegee between games and the barrel will stay in tip-top shooting condition.

As for oil: DO NOT GET OIL IN THE BARREL. It kills the friction and ruins the flat trajectory and accuracy. The oil is also very difficult to remove without going through the soap and hot water routine.

When you oil the gun action remove the barrel before you dry fire the marker (no paint) 10 to 20 times. This will distribute the oil through the action and, hopefully, blow the excess oil out of the action so it does not get deposited in the barrel when reinstalled.

Speaking of oil, there is not much needed. Two or three drops through the ASA each week. Hoppe's #9 OIL is good as is any pneumatic oil (do not, by mistake, use Hoppe's cleaning solution). I have found the power tube and the "O" ring on the hammer work very well with just a thin smear of lithium grease rather than light oil.

Oh, how about "The inside of the Flatline is glass blasted along with an adheisive to make a fine layer stick"  and  "the inside of the barrel is smooth" and "check for rust"

Maybe I should have phrased it "so many inaccurate statements."

Not one of those statements were mine.  Which was my point.  I was simply annoyed to be included in your nit picking post.

you're effing kidding me, right?

I mean:
1. You waste an entire post with a short sentence segment, with bad grammar.
2. You waste an entire post to insult someone.
3. You bypass Tippmann's word filter.

Wow, just, wow...

Anyhow, personally I wouldve just done it with water. But whatever works for you.

Also, I have Hoppe's Elite Gun Oil, is this fine for my A5?

Ok, everyone relax.

The question got answered, he didnt do anything wrong, nor did he do damage.

To my knowledge, tippmann does not "re-finish" flatlines.
