I'd go with the cocker. Prostocks are nice. I used to have an 03 vf and really liked it. I sold it an picked up a 98c and Sl68 for woodsball. www.pbnation.com and www.ebay.com are nice for used cockers. Not too sure where you can find a new one.

I'd suggest the Ion over a 'cocker. It will be slightly less accurate, a lot faster, and signifigantly lighter. Also, a new ProStock is $360(although the 2004's are $280), whereas a new Ion is $280. Even being a 'cocker owner for quite a few months, and having used half a dozen of them, I'd say an Ion owns a stock mechanical 'cocker.

as pariel said, the ion will be less accurate but a lot faster. i don't see this as a strength, because you'll save a lot of money on paint using a cocker which is one of the most accurate guns out there. talk about one shot kills, man. if you put the right things on the cocker, it'll rip like crazy and be dead on accurate. weight isn't that big of a deal. it's not going to affect your performance, really. a cocker with a good barrel will own any ion. |

The Ion isn't inaccurate, just not dead on, ball on ball accurate like a 'cocker. For speedball, having a bit of a spread can be useful, 'specially for laning. I own one of the nicest mechanical 'cockers on this forum, and I'd say buy an Ion. |

I'd have to go cocker on this one. Only b/c like the others said the cocker is extremly good in accuracy, and the ion for speed, but you can upgrade your cocker to be a lot fast than the ion, but that means more $.

I can buy two new Ions, with upgrades, for the price of one new SuperStock.
Here's how it's gonna break down I guess: If you want to hit the same spot everytime(ie:woodsball, or if you just like incredibly accurate shooting), get the autococker. If you want to be able to keep up with just about any gun in speedball, and having a ball-on-ball accurate gun isn't necessary to you, get the Ion. |

98% of ion owners think ions are better than any high end gun. If you would like to bonus ball these idiots put this in your sig.

I never said an upgraded Ion, I just said an Ion.
Ions go new in the $240 range right now. I can get you a totally tricked out Ion: new barrel, clamping feed neck, new trigger, uni-mount, new regulator, for $425. That's still $125 less than the SuperStock. Plus, if you want a SuperStock to be shooting equally with that, you'd need a new regulator and barrel(most expensive parts of the setup), plus a uni-mount(no on/off on the stock one) and clamping feed neck, and probably a new regulator(not sure how good the current ones are). Either way, he was talking about a mech 'cocker. Deffiantely not worth it if you can get an Ion. We already debated the 'cockers thing months ago, and my 'cocker was second only to SeaWolf's only because my ram is still brass, and the whole gun is a gloss black. Plus, I've got one of the few walkable mechanical triggers(without paint...) on this forum, if not the only one. Overall, accuracy matters a lot more about your paint to barrel match than the gun. You get that paint in a good sized barrel, and you'll be able to blast anything whether you're shooting a Spyder or an Ego. |

Its been proven, close bolt guns are not more accurate then open bolt guns.
Being accurate depends on paint to barrel bore match. |

It's not the fact that it's closed bolt, it's simply the fact that 'cockers can shoot accurately almost all the time, I'm not really sure why, but they can.

Because they use decent consistant regs. Accuracy depends more on consistency then paint to bore match. Thats why you see lots of people using .692 ULs on their guns. Cause it fits all paint, you wont get barrel breaks from slight deformities, and if the gun is consistent then you wont have a problem with accuracy. Spikes or drops in velocity will cause the balls to go either farther or shorter, meaning they will land farther away or closer to you. This isnt side to side accuracy, but up and down, and simple movements from shooting the gun while trying to hold it steady will cause accuracy to be effected.
I got into an argument with BliNd on IRC, lost my train of thought, whatever. |

Neither is that great. Cockers are slow, heavy, finiky and obsolete compared to the other guns used in tourneys these days. IONS are cheap, light and pretty fast but very unreliable. Edited by Bunkerking1337 |
