It's about time!!!
I saw this new semi-auto pistol on a paintball show last week. It uses quick change magazines that holds CO2 cartridges and 8 paintballs INSIDE THE GRIP! Looked to me as though it used .68 caliber paintballs. They showed the quick change ability of the air/paintball magazine you simply pop out the one mag with the (i am assuming push button release) release, and insert the already loaded mag into the bottom of the grip & you're ready to rock! The mag releases the gas with a quick swoosh when it is disengaged. There must be some sort of valving inside the mag allowing the air to remain charged in the magazine until you reload with paint and reinsert into the pistol. They said you can expect about 40 shots per co2 cartridge, and a neat feature of having the extra mags is you can keep quick changing them...then reload with paint until they are out of air. Another nice little feature of the mags is the spring hold back function....you can keep the spring pressure off the ball stack until you are ready to insert into the gun. It will be interesting to see when these things will come out, how much they are, and how reliable they are. The guy on TV double tapped 4 targets, exchanged mags, then eptied the gun again.....EXCELLENT!! Called the Tac Eagle. Can't wait! Edited by Hyper |

Saw it on the Special Ops forum. Yes, it uses .68 cal balls and it's
going to be released with a price of somewhere between $250-$300.

Why not just play airsoft if you want realistic guns. That thing is a joke. Carry a larger air tank and more pods. And bam no reason to carry a sidearm.

That would be pretty fun to play with. It's the kind of gun that you
could do freaky stealth stuff without the large gun weighing you down.
You could holster it and climb a tree Solid Snake style.

Exactly. Paintball isnt exactly catered to scenario players, and anyone who wants to go for a more realistic experience, then do airsoft. There really is no point in this gun, because a PGP is just as effective, less than half the cost, and is already known as reliable. |

I can't believe it took this long for somebody to come up with a gas+paint clip. This is a great idea. Now ATS (and others) can take the same principle, and apply to larger clips for larger guns. Very cool. |

First of all, it's not just about milsim. Though it obviously borrows from real guns, there is something you are overlooking. There's a reason magazines exist. They make for quick reloading and the fact that the paint and gas come in one package make it a lot easier to handle reloading. I love my PGP 2k1 to death but I have to admit, for those LOOKING for an advantage in a pistol, the one posted is right for them. If you've ever handled a Zeus or any other semi-auto pistol out there, changing those mags is a pain. And if you just wanted to feed paint into the mags and not switch them. You have to pull a plug (that could easily be dropped especially with gloved hands) pull the spring back (two handed operation) load from a 10 rnd tube (without modification the caps can be lost easily) and plug it back in then cock it again. Then there's another process for the 12-gram. If you're not afraid to drop clips so that you can pick them up later, reloading is as simple as reaching for a fresh mag with one hand while pushing the mag release button with the other hand (without altering grip on the gun), letting the mag drop out, and inserting the fresh one in. Then you cock it and go. |
