this probably has already been brought up at some point but... here
goes... tippmann should come out with an electronic version of the
cyclone that doesnt involve using the blowback gases. it should fit
right where the old cyclone fits on the a-5 but should use perhaps 2
AAA batteries on the bottom. that way when you have all these mods to
your a-5 like QEV, or super r/t mod, WAS equalizer board and your gun
wants to shoot 22-23 bps and your cyclone is blending balls, you have
an alternative. i realize that the r/t runs from blowback gases. so i
propose if that new cyclone is made you can have a kit that takes the
air from the valve directly to the piston. wah lah, problem solved and
you have a kick butt a-5 doing speedball numbers. from that new cyclone
they might probably be new WAS boards to max out the speed of the new
electro cyclone. certain types of players might not want it because it
takes away all of the fun and "skill" of being a pure mechanical marker
player. i say, who cares. more options is the key.

The whole point of Tippmann making the Cyclone Feed System was so you
didn't have to worry about batteries. Why would they make one with
batteries if the whole point was not to have to worry about them?

it would be for the electro fans. and it would be an upgrade that you
can buy seperately. much like the e grip was a drop in upgrade.

it would be better if they made an adaptor for electro hopers.

so youd rather have a taller hopper and same width? the cyclone is much smaller in realality if you think about it. But true, the only reason cyclone was made is for batteryless, quick performance.

How would you make it electric and reliable...? I mean, maintainence and accesscibility to parts will have to be essential.

^^^ well, just like the cyclone feed now it comes off with just an
allen key. so it would be easy to remove and service. and once crony it
with the current set up of your gun you shouldnt really have a reason
to chop any balls.

I mean, how would you make it electronic? Is there going to be an electric motor or something moving the cyclone. Because if otherwise, then its more or less what the e-grip is now.
Maybe you're trying to synchonize it with the e-grips board...? |

^^^ those are both possibilities. i dont know enough about electronics
to give an actual blue print. it was just an idea. but an electronic
motor in the new cyclone that would make it opperate faster than 17bps
would be great.

Well, my thought was, if this is practical, that an electric motor in coordination with the board could produce some impressive results. However, the cyclone mechanical components may also need some adjustment for the extra speed. I'd need to study how the feed works in the gun because if more balls could be preselected in the star mechanism, then the electronic motor might be more practical. Like you said, just some thoughts...

^^^ there are also some aftermarket internals for the a-5 like light
weight valves and hammers. and spring kits that help it perform at
faster speeds. i think if the electronic cyclone was made there would
be a demand for more upgraded internals. that would mean big bucks for
aftermarket parts manufacturers. should work out for everyone in theory.

id say make it like a warp feed where it just slips the belt until the bolt is open and a ball can go in then slips till the cycle repeats.

if they make an electric cyclone then they should have it universal, but i dont think tippmann is doing anything since the cyclone out now works fine in most scenarios. they dont have any reason too either, it would be a waste to tippmann when the same thing is already out, but runs on the CO2 or whatever it is.

I know this is probably a dead topic, but I just wondered if this had been mentioned. Why not take the motor from something like the HALO and then put in underneath the cyclone feed on the A-5, take out all the rachet work and all of that from the current cyclone. Then just use the motor to drive the current blades inside of the cyclone (or use the HALO drive cone). It would be a force feed, but it would still incorporate HALO's intelligent technology that senses a jam and won't bust paint so often and also be fast. It would make the cyclone taller, but it would be faster and cut out the whole blow-back gas deal.

What they need to do is eliminate the plunger all together and make the cyclone work the way that they say it does, with air. They need to route the air directly to the ratchet so the mechanics dont get in the way of performance.
