That's right, I'm in love, I said it.

With

My TI-89. Now I've had this calculator for a few years now and let me tell you. It is one of the best investments I've ever made. Some people buy the under powered TI-83s or 84s but they're foolish. The real money is in the 89. This calculator is the reason why I've passed math for the past four years. Don't get me wrong I'm pretty good at math but once you learn how to actually use this thing for its more advanced funtions your homework will fly. Remember in algebra when it took people forever to solve problems? Yeah, well it doesn't with the 89, you just select the proper fuction then type the equation in, tell it what you want to solve for and BAM. Correct answer instantly in the proper format that you have to write it on the test in.

Now, why I'm writing this post today.

So I'm in Calculus and quite frankly, I have no idea what's going on. This is possible the first time in a math class that I've ever been confused. I had a quiz today and studied all last night from the book trying to figure out what the hell was going on with our problems. It got me nowhere. So today before the test I got the answer sheet and a practice test and figured out how to properly use the built in fuctions to correctly solve the problems. I figureed it all out in about a half hour before the test. I get in the class, look at the test and almost laughed. It was about 4 times easier than th epractice. I breezed through it in about 10 minutes. I was done well before anyone else in my class. Even the people that actually know what's going on and I'm quite sure I've got an A on it.

I <3 TI-89

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

Calculus. Ugh.

I did well in math up to that point. Made three seperate attempts to take Calc I. One failure, two withdrawals. Couldn't hack it.
I didn't want to be an Engineer anyway. :)

Even a TI-89 couldn't have saved me.

Glad it's doing wonders for you.

ti-89's rule... my god

mbro, they do most of all the basic problems you'll encounter in calc 1-2.  integrals, derivatives.  i couldn't have gotten by w/o mine.

I <3 calculus.

Of course, back in my day, we weren't allowed to use them there new-fangled graphing calculators - we had to solve our differential equations the old-fashioned way.

And then we walked home, uphill in the snow, and we liked it.

I was the opposite.

I did ok in elementry math, and once Algebra hit, I simply did horribly. I managed to pass, but with grades like Ds and Cs. Geometry was slightly better, because I made B's and C's. Algebra 2 was the same as Geometry.

In precal, I had a horrible time. I would consitently fail the quizes, but on test day I managed to do ok. I passed the class, but usually with C's.

Calculus rolls around, and bam, I am able to get most everything that is presented to me. I do well on the quizes, above average on the tests(though that is still a C, these are questions that our teacher feels are AP test level or above[partly because he takes the questions from AP exams and changes the numbers]), and on the labs we do I am usually able to come to the conclusion he wants us to.

regardless, I am only using an 84 because it is what the teacher uses and explains how to do whatever is needed to be done.

Well it is a graphing calculator and there is a graph in the picture, so no. It does not do graphing.

I paid 80 off ebay they used to cost about $160 new when I got it, I'm sure the price has dropped.

Yeah, Calc is a bit rough for me right now too. Thank god I have this. And I don't need calc to get into the presidency....just look at the current one.

It's what's getting me through those "basic" problems right now

82, because there was just enough 84s for everyone, then when I open mine up, theres a crack across the middle of the screen and half is a ll black.

I should probaly invest in my own.
It's all a conspiracy.

I never tried Calc but I do recall having a rather attractive volleyball player take my high school Trig tests for me and I didn't even ever lend her my TI-89.
