Okay, Well A while back I took my stock off to put it in a bag. I was careless and stupid and put the spring in my pocket. It got bent and really didn't work(I couldn't cock the gun). So I thought it was just a crappy spring. But when I took apart my friends gun. I noticed a big piece that he had and I didn't. Normally I would automatically think I lost the piece, but I don't know how it would come out and I seem to remember the gun working a while ago and that piece not being there, but I'm not 100% sure. I think maybe I am missing a piece, but my gun is a lot newer than my friends and his is equiped with Respone Trigger. Here are pictures of the two guns back pieces were the drive spring goes. Mine's the first, my friends the second one. You can see how mine is a big hole, but my friends has a tiny hole where the spring easily fits into.

No, That hasn't helped. I'm just asking if i'm missing a piece back there or not. If you could look at yours and check or w/e. That would be good.

Your friends bolt looks like my A-5's bolt. Your bolt looks very suspicious, as if something is missing. I'm not sure what though. It may be an older style bolt or something. My custom 98 has a bolt that seperates into three pieces. Yours kinda looks like a 98C bolt without the cocking rod and insert. Hope that sheds some light on things for you! |

Yea, these are both a-5's here. Same type of gun. So I'm comparing them and seeing that it looks like my friends has an extra piece that I need. The spring and rod aren't in, but it doesn't matter. When I assemble it. It won't cock. I think it's because there is a missing piece.

O.K. I went onto tippmannparts.com and looked at the bolts. It looks as though your bolt is considered a new bolt style. It did not show the back end , so I couldn't tell if your missing something or not. I'll keep looking though |

Yeah, thats what he is missing. Your Friend has the old style bolt, and you hav ethe new one. The new one has 2 pieces to it, the insert and the bolt itself. Whereas the old bolt is a single piece of aluminuim.

Well actually, the old ones have an insert too. except the insert is aluminum too. The new ones are 2 piece. except the insert is plastic. The material and shape of the bolt insert is the only difference.

my bolt doesn't seem to have an insert... looks like the older one. Is the newer one somehow better?

The 98c had the aluminum insert, not the A5.

I found the piece and now it's working. It's just a black piece of plastic. My gun is newer. I bought it in April and my friends is a lot older.
