I have a a5 with egrip went out and shot it for the first time and broke the rachet in the cyclone within 2 hoppers. my buddy also broke one a few days latter. Is this pretty common or not i, was thinking about getting the techt vortex mod anyone have any luck with them or heard of someone using one?

This is a common problem withbthe A-5. Tippmann has fixed the problem with it. Call them and they will send you a new one for free.

It's a little disturbing to see posts like this, since I just bought an A5 a few weeks ago myself. I have heard several such reports. And this past Saturday I stopped in at a pro shop and what's the guy fixing? Sure enough a broken cyclone from an A5, the problem turns out to be a broken ratchet, one of the clear upgraded ones.

This is not a good sign.

The clear ratchet is not the upgraded one.  The upgraded ratchet is a light beige color, and is a slightly harder plastic than the clear one.

Your right! Thank you for the info.

This means the guy at the pro shop told me the wrong thing, so now I will go some where else.
